This is actually a new feature on the iPhone 6 plus besides their all-new "2012" spec..the bend is a trend on smartphone nowadays but Apple did it best by letting it just sit in your front pocket. Nice job..hahahaha

AnonD-262634, 24 Sep 2014Now's the time we call iPhone6 "cheap"..it's wors... moreNot really, if Samsung still use the same fairly brittle plastic as the backplate Galaxy Mini I got rid of in March, putting it through this sort of pressure would likely snap or shatter it.

The problem here isn't cost or strength of material, more thickness, both of the phone as a whole and the device's outer layer. Samsung phones are, relative to the iPhone 6+, thicker and have more internal bracing as a result, making them less likely to bend.

Not to mention strength of material doesn't correlate to cost at all. Gold is seen as much more expensive than steel, yet is way more malleable.

You said premium? Still there are people who prefer recycled coke cans to other materials?

Yeah Android and Galaxy phones bend too.. But the point all you people are NOT getting is that THEY RETAIN THEIR SHAPE! When the iPhone 6 bends, IT STAYS BENT!

I just bent the stuffing out of my Galaxy S 5. It flexes back to its original shape every time. Sure I won't forcibly try and break it, but the point is. These phones, whilst they aren't made out of metal and don't 'look' premium AT LEAST ARE SAFE IN YOUR POCKET!

Nice one iDIOTS. Enjoy your €1000 silver sausages. Do something constructive now yeah, and demand better from Apple for the greater good of tech.

Such are fanboys, it'd be the same if Samsung did something like this for iOS fans and so on.

This. Is. Priceless!. Apple have got some serious damage control to do here. It's not even about the fact that the phone does bend - it's the fact that Americans will be expecting more from the company and their devices. Anything can go viral in media nowadays and if it starts becoming a trend - this could have serious implications for the company. The fact that the issue of Androids bending is practically unheard of and news of iPhones bending appears a mere week after launching is highly problematic. Let's not forget that material and build quality are seen as some of the advantages Apple products have over competitors so if they lose that, they'll only have design and OS to taught about. In my opinion, I do not think Apple did enough fatigue, torsion and rigidity testing on their new devices. This isn't a problem for iPads although their larger and that's simply because they can never be put in pockets. But because the new iPhones are still technically mobile phones at the end of the day - you've got to take into account their daily use scenarios which for most women won't be a problem as they keep their phones in handbags most of the time. But for us men, putting your phone in your pocket is a MUST.

It is quite bad that the device was released in a state that bends that relatively easy, and if apple remains silent on the issue worse still. It also presents quite the case against both the trend for thin and large screened phones.

However, in fairness look at the video with the 6+, while it does indeed bend by hand, it's clear it takes more than a casual ammount of effort since it doesn't crumple like tinfoil the minute he applies pressure. I can't imagine what would exert that kind of pressure in normal day to day activities beyond sitting on it (I've seen "putting it in back pocket" come up a few times, yet I've never seen a back pocket on trousers large enough to fit smaller phones let alone this).

Still, the lesson from all this is that ludicrously thin phones with large surface areas are not really a smart choice.

as u can see the guy had to put some force to bend the iPhone to bend it so for it to bend in normal day to day cases inside of the average persons pocket I find hard to believe am not a apple fan but sometimes you have to think outside of the box when you see certain stuff online
