This is how thin the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 will be

Vlad, 05 February 2025

Oppo is unveiling the Find N5 foldable smartphone in a couple of weeks, and this is widely expected to get a global launch as the OnePlus Open 2. Now, a new rumor tells us just how thin the upcoming device will be.

According to a tipster over on X, when unfolded, the Find N5 (and OnePlus Open 2) will be just 4.2mm thick. To put that into perspective, the Honor Magic V3 is 4.35mm thick when unfolded, and that device is currently the thinnest of the traditional book-type foldables (the Huawei Mate XT goes to an insane 3.6mm but it folds twice, making it an unfair comparison).

So, it looks like the Find N5 / OnePlus Open 2 will be the thinnest bi-fold/once-folding foldable ever. Will that make this form factor finally go mainstream? Probably not, unless the price also drops significantly compared to the previous generation. But at least we are now fully in the territory of such devices being about as thick as a normal slab phone when folded. And that's amazing, and deserves to be praised.

The Find N5 / Open 2 has been rumored to go with the Snapdragon 8 Elite version that has just seven CPU cores. It's officially been confirmed to sport 50W wireless charging, as well as a trio of water resistance ratings: IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9.
