HMD unveils the Fusion X1 aimed at teens, FC Barcelona version in tow

HMD unveiled a few new devices at its event at the start of MWC 2025. The most interesting is undoubtedly the Fusion X1 , which comes with the Xplora parental control platform pre-installed.

Normally, Xplora is a paid, subscription-based service that runs on the teen's phone and can send out alerts for different events, offer location tracking and history, controlled contacts, app approvals and remote screen time management. It's still unclear how long of a subscription you'll be getting for free.

HMD Fusion X1

The Fusion X1 itself weighs 202 grams and is mostly made of plastic. It features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with a 6/128GB or 8/256GB memory options and expandable storage via microSD (a hybrid slot that either takes two nano-SIM cards or a SIM and a microSD). The LCD measures 6.56 inches in diagonal, has a 720 x 1612 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Its typical advertised brightness is 480 nits and it goes up to 600 nits in boost mode.

A 5,000 mAh battery is on board with support for 33W charging. There is also a 3.5mm audio jack and NFC. The 108MP main snapper is joined by a 2MP depth sensor on the back. On the front, there is a 50MP fixed-focus unit. The phone boots Android 14 with a promise of two major OS updates and three years of security patches.

As its name suggests, the Fusion X1 offers support for HMD's Fusion accessory platform. It sports six smart pins on the back of the phone, which work with varios accessories. You can buy a ring light, gaming controller or extra battery to attach to said pins.

The Barca Fusion is a special edition of the Fusion X1, sharing its specs and design.

HMD added a special FC Barcelona case with player signatures that glow under UV light. There is also a collection of visuals, themed sounds and greetings from players. Some FC Barcelona apps are pre-loaded as well.
