Asus Zenfone 5 Lite heads to the US as the 5Q, will launch in late July

The Asus Zenfone 5 has multiple flavors, but they are yet to launch in the US and this won’t change quickly. The Asus Zenfone 5 Lite ZC600KL is now up on Amazon for pre-order under the name Zenfone 5Q. The price is set at $300 and stock is expected to be available on July 31 – two months from now.

At least it’s the Snapdragon 630 version, which features 4K at 30 fps video recording and better charging (not fast by any measure, it does 10W). So, it’s not perfect, but there’s plenty to like about the phone.

For one, it doesn’t have a notch unlike the other two models. It features a rectangular 6” display with 1,080 x 2,160 px resolution. You can check out our hands-on for more details and do pay special attention to the camera department.

It boasts a secondary 120° wide-angle camera on both the front and back. The main camera on the back is a 16 MP shooter with 80° f/2.2 lens, the one on the front is 20 MP 85.5°. Both front and back cameras have LED flashes.

If that sounds like something you like, you can find the phone on Amazon US. But again, if you pre-order now, you’d still be in for quite a wait.

I'm far more interested in the Asus Zenfone 5. Hopefully it'll come out in the U.S. at $400 or below. Would be a great addition to the higher mid range phone category.

Most budget phones aren't traveler-friendly. Yet, a relative of mine had the original selfie from Asia, through the middle east and to the USA without a problem. Depends on what carrier you choose.
