Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 passes the torture test with flying colors

Ro, 16 January 2019

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is one of the hottest flagships right now and it offers a mechanical sliding mechanism that's just like the Honor Magic 2 and the Lenovo Z5 Pro. But is it sturdy enough to challenge the classic smartphone design and hold up to the torture tests of JerryRighEverything? Yes, like a champ!

The durability test kicks off in the usual fashion with some scratch tests revealing that the ceramic back is indeed noticeably harder to scratch than metal and glass. The ceramic has been an integral part of all Mi Mix phones so far and it's good to see Xiaomi sticking to it despite the higher production costs.

An interesting find is that there's a small gap between the two parts of the phone so dirt and sand could get in there easily. However, probably due to the more sturdy ceramic build, the Mi Mix 3 passes the bend test with flying colors. It bends a little but it doesn't snap like other slider phones - looking at you Find X.

It is available for purchase in North America. I just got mine in Canada with the Global Rom. Everything is working great except Google Messages isn't giving any notifications so I'm using Textra until that gets fixed.
