OnePlus 7 Pro aces scratch and bend test, doesn't get screen damage from an open flame

The OnePlus 7 Pro has only been announced a few short hours ago, but it's already been put through an extensive durability test by Zack from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything.

He starts off his trademark stress test with scratches, and like all other phones using Gorilla Glass on the screen the 7 Pro scratches at a level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves showing at level 7. Note that the levels refer to the tools used for scratching.

Next up, the motorized pop-up selfie camera - it's protected by glass too, which means it won't easily be scratched, although the area around it is plastic and prone to many more scratches. Then again, that's not a functional surface so your images won't be affected. The phone's sides are unsurprisingly metal, including the SIM card tray, volume rocker, power button, and alert slider.

The back is Gorilla Glass 5 too, so it won't scratch with your garden variety blade. The OnePlus logo and wordmark are both under the glass so they can't come off in time, with use. When subjected to the burn test, the 7 Pro's display impressively doesn't show any dead pixels after around a minute of having an open flame directly applied to it. Other AMOLED panels usually last only about 20 seconds until unrecoverable pixel damage occurs, so this is surprising.

The fingerprint sensor still works even when the glass on top of it is damaged by a level 7 Mohs pick, and the phone survives the bend test with flying colors - no glass separation or kinks in the frame.

Meh funny at least we know samsung confirmed as apple did they slow older devices via updates. They are not only very late on updates but also make their devices crawling.

"Glass shatters on impact. Next on news at 6 o'clock... All glass phones eventually shatter in an ugly way." - another thing that OnePlus isn't getting enough sh*t for - they make a tablet-sized device, and instead of reinforcing it with metal casing...
