MediaTek teases new vivo S12 series to arrive with Dimensity 1200 SoC

Earlier this month we saw a couple of reports about vivo’s new S12 lineup including a leaked render and a spy photo. The smartphone has now been officially teased on Weibo by MediaTek’s handle and the chipmaker confirms the smartphone will be powered be the Dimensity 1200 on the 6nm process.

“MediaTek’s flagship core, the Dimensity 1200, is a new 6nm process and A78 ultra-large core architecture design that delivers stronger performance and lower power consumption, giving new impetus to the fast-growing global mobile market. 1200 open architecture platform to bring a more differentiated smartphone experience to everyone. At the end of the month, the Vivo S12 series, powered by the deeply optimized Dimensity 1200, will be coming soon, are you looking forward to it?”

The vivo S12 will come in standard and Pro variants. As per previous reports, the S12 Pro will have a wide notch housing dual selfie cameras. The first is a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor along with an 8MP ultrawide shooter. The rear triple camera setup will be headlined by a 108MP main camera. The S12 Pro will be positioned as a portrait photography camera and is targeted at vivo’s offline markets.

The S12 Pro will have a FullHD+ OLED display with curved edges – a first time for the vivo S-series - and an in-display fingerprint scanner. 44W charging is expected to appear on the S12 Pro like its predecessor as revealed by 3C certification.

The vivo S12 lineup will be announced before the end of December.

Vivo has been working well with mediatek processors in recent years. So this should be a good choice as well.
