Oppo Find N5 Flip is canceled according to purported 2024 foldable launch lineup

Vlad, 07 March 2024

Back in mid-February a weird report claimed Oppo would simply give up on the foldable market, due to its share in the space falling last year. The company promptly reached out to us to deny the rumor, but maybe it wasn't all bunk.

A new report today from a usually reliable source says Oppo's Find N5 Flip, which was going to be the successor to the Find N3 Flip that launched last year, has been canceled. There is no reason given for this but we assume sales of the previous generations of Oppo-made Flips haven't been high enough to warrant the continuation of the line. Still, it would be a pretty surprising move, considering how nascent the foldable market is even today.

On the other hand, the Oppo Find N5 is alive and well and will apparently even launch globally alongside the OnePlus Open 2, which could once again be the same device with a different name - just like the Find N3 and original Open.

Additionally, Xiaomi's Mix Fold 4 is allegedly going to be launching globally, it would be the first Xiaomi foldable to do so. The Mix Flip, Xiaomi's first flip-style foldable, is also coming this year, but will remain confined to China. It's a similar story for vivo - the X Fold3 will go global, the X Flip2 will stay in China. It's strange that Oppo, Xiaomi, and vivo are simply letting Samsung run away with the international market for flip-style foldables, but this is the way things are.

At least, if this rumor pans out, of course. As always, don't believe everything you read on the internet, even if it comes from a reliable source.

Interesting....why do you think Z is more durable than the Pocket 2? I'm really curious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4eOKDfOEFY
