I've read so many good comments about the 1112..which is hardly surprising since it is a good phone with great ringtones. But my phone has this problem of switching itself off while gaming, particularly when a level is complete or when the game is over(carrom). Its not a once-in-a-blue-moon occurance, but happens almost once in five times. Now, I don't know about you, but I think that points the finger at really bad software..

Its a great phone. Good ringtones. Excellent battery life. Good sms editing facilities. But there is a crackling sound towards the end of every ringtone. Is it there in every phone or is it a manufacturing defect? Pls reply.

About adding ringtones....
The Nokia 1112 supports polyphonic ringtones and is able to play up to 20 notes at the same time. You can add new polyphonic ringtones to the Nokia 1112 with MobiMB Mobile Media Browser or Logomanager Pro Suite.
Just download the software, connect your PC to your phone and you can add any suitable MIDI file as a new ringtone just by dragging and dropping into the phone.
Ringtones are freely available on the Internet, but you can also create your own, or cut bigger MIDI files down to 20 simultaneous notes and add a vibration channel using PolyPhonix Studio.

SUCH A GREAT PHONE AND:
-No Bluetooth?
Why?-Nokia, Why????
Bluetooth is not a megapixel junk or color screan or other stupidity. Bluetooth is replacing speakerphone, and provides the best sound quality!
COME ONE- NOKIA!
Get serious!

my first mobile phone was a nokia 3315 which i bought for INR 4000 2 years ago. i liked the fact that it was very basic, but it was also fat and heavy (unlike me). so when the print on the keys wore out (and some parts inside started making a noise when i shook the phone, because i had dropped it so many times), i bought this 1112 for INR 2050 (the dealer took the 3315 minus ac/dc adapter for 500).
my reason for buying this phone was that it is light, slim, basic but also has a speakerphone and a nice keypad. it drains battery much less. it doesnt get as hot as the 3315 used to. i have used it for a month and i still like these features.
i dropped it in water once and had to open the case to get the water out. it has survived the incident. but it is not as good as the 3315 in taking falls and drops. it sometimes turns off when dropped. all these drops are accidental.
i am obsessed about lowercase. this phone wont let me switch to lowercase when i start an sms. also the smaller font that it offers is not as small as the one in 3315.
the default ringtones are too mellow, compared to the 3315 which had hard loud ones that will wake me up no matter what.
it has a repeat alarm function. the repeat period can be set in terms of days of the week (only). this is an improvement over 3315.
the tone composer does not seem to be as flexible as the one in 3315 (which, if i remember right, would have let you compose tones using letters and digits separately, not only tone codes from the keypad).
when i resume a postponed incomplete reply to an sms, the phone does not remember whom i wanted to reply to.
i did not like the games as much as the ones on 3315.
my preference is still the slim light phone, with a speakerphone and a nice keypad, that doesn't get hot or drain battery. but once all these are available, it is hard to overlook the irritants.
