Anonymous, 07 Nov 2008I'm sorry JJ but you are so wrong! :) Every nokia does this... moreHey men!

READ MY POST! Did you read it well?? Read it again!

Where did I say that it's person A and person B with the same number? That's not the situation!! It's not that that I wanted to mean!!

I explain again: you have a UNIQUE PERSON (just one!!!) with 2 numbers defined (to that contact, only one!!!). You can have that in Nokia 1209, it's possible to assign several numbers to a given contact (just one!!!), like the house number, the mobile number, the work number,..... So, the situation I mentioned it's refered to that, I'm not talking about giving same number to two contacts!!! Read my post!!! It's 2 numbers to a contact (only one contact!!!)

    Regards!

I'm sorry JJ but you are so wrong! :) Every nokia does this, AND IT'S NOT A BUG!!! If you have Person A and Person B both with the same phone number, how would the mobile decide wich one to show??

Furthermore, if it would randomly pick one of the many names with the same phone number, you would never have noticed that you had the same number saved to more contacts.

PPl lemme tell you, this is just a mobile phone. It is designed to make calls and send text. It is priced for that. Now if you are talking about so called high end featured phones, they dont just give any of the features they say they have. Can you use the 5MP cam of N95 to take a quality pics?? I dont think it can. Like that, can you use the great browsers provided in these phones to browse thru flash/ JS website with ease?? No. Defenitely NO. These phones are to grow much. Till then no one can say a 1209 is inferior and an N95 is superior. Both will be same, latter- the bigger bottle with more wine.. Thats all

Just bought this phone today and i find it great. Had a Motorola V3, but it started to restart without reason to, and its battery life decreased (A LOT). So, i looked up for a new, basic phone and i found this one. Basically, i needed a phone that can actually make / receive calls, send and receive sms. Which this thing does. Oh, and it also has an alarm, cool. I don't need a camera, internet nor music, so, this thing just fits my needs. I haven't charged its battery yet, but i'm expecting good autonomy from it. So, i may say that i'm enjoying this phone very much. The only thing that buzzes me off is the ringing volume, but i'll keep it with the vibration mode turned on. Nice one, Nokia.

A Tang, 29 Oct 2008All nokias are like this. This is not a bug. Its the sa... moreNo, they are not! I have a Nokia N70 that doesn't suffer from this bug! In fact, in my opinion, it's a very stupid bug!! If all Nokias suffered from this problem, people would have to guess "who is this number from?", all the time... not very logic!!

Maybe you didnt't understand my point...
If I have a contact John (for example) with 2 numbers: let's say, 123 (house number) and 456 (mobile number), and if 123 is the predefined number, then if I receive a call from John mobile phone, the screen shows "456" instead of showing "John Mobile", for example!

And YES, this IS A MAJOR PROBLEM because I don't want to spend my time guessing numbers, I don't memorize them! This is a very severe bug!

Regards! Anyone can confirm if this bug is fixed in 1209?

JJ, 14 Oct 2008Hello, please, can someone help me with this doubts? -> ... moreAll nokias are like this. This is not a bug.

Its the same as 2 entries with the same number. It just does not know which one is correct since they both are. In the end they just show you the number.
              No problem at all

Hello, please, can someone help me with this doubts?

-> Has the Nokia 1208 restart bug been corrected in this phone?

-> And about the pending sms problem?

-> I found this bug on Nokia 1208: if a contact X has 2 numbers defined, lets say, number 1 and number 2, and if number 1 is the predifined number, then: if I make a call to number 1, the contact name appears on the screen; but, if I make a call to number 2, then no name appears on screen, just the number!!! By other words, the phone only associates a given number to a contact name if that number is the predifined number!! This is a very severe bug!!!

Has Nokia 1209 corrected this bug?? Can someone help me, by testing this please??

                  Lots of thanks!!

This has a brighter, clearer LCD than the 1208/2310/1600. Well at least mine does.

It still has the software bug regarding the Sent Items where some messages remain in "pending" status even when they were in fact already sent. Once your Sent Items folder becomes filled with these "pending" items, you have no choice but to manually delete them one by one or you wouldn't be able to send any more text messages--a bug which has been around for over a year in the 1xxx series since firmware version 5.00 and Nokia never fixed.

Aleksander; unfortunately you cannot do anything about the loudness of the ringtones. The same problem applies with the 1200, 1208 and the 1650 phones. Nokia are no longer making good basic phones. If you are outdoors you will not hear these phones ringing. I would recommend you to buy an 1112 or 1600 nokia instead as the ringtones are louder and the vibration alert is better too. Also the keypads are better. Hope this helps....
