Softt, 19 Nov 2008Pros: Sharp and very usable torch lightbeam. Battery life... moreBuy another phone if you want blueto0th or gprs. This is a basic phone that does the job done. Only Nokia makes good entry-level phones, the other brands suck at this.

Skuller, 27 Nov 2008Hey JJ, I was going over the comments. You seemed to be ha... moreExactly!!!

Finally someone who understood my point about all this situation!! Uff...

Yup, I do it that way too, managing the several numbers from a given person as individual contacts.

It would be really good if Nokia could correct this bug, because I think it should be very easy to fix it. I don't know how they didn't correct it from Nokia 1208 into 1209, how could they didn't detect it? Grr... It's so annoying, it's a bug that shouldn't exist on 21th century lol

                        Regards!

                          Hey JJ,
I was going over the comments. You seemed to be having tough luck getting the people to understand your query. Must be really frustrating I am sure.

Nonetheless, assigning the multiple numbers as individual contacts is the best thing to do in this case. I do that too and place a "(m)" or "(r)" in front of the person's name to distinguish between mobile or residence. Only needs a bit of effort and more phonebook space, but that seems to be more than enough, for me atleast.

                          Cheers

Quote: "the 1209 can only accept one number per contact anyway, so we don't really have much of a choice" you said

NO IT DOESN'T!!!! It has the feature to accept several numbers to a contact, like I said!!!! It has the option to input home number, mobile number, work number, general number and fax number!!! DAMN! THE FACT IS THAT THAT FEATURE DOESN'T WORK LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO, because only the number you mark as predifined works ok with the contact name, in terms of association name/number, that's what I'm trying to say in all these posts!! Got it now??

SO THE FEATURE IS PRESENT, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK WELL, SO WHAT WE GOT?? Guess............... in my town it is called a BUG!!!!!

                            Regards!

                              hi JJ
i think making 3 entries for a certain contact is the best way to go to avoid confusion. the 1209 can only accept one number per contact anyway, so we don't really have much of a choice.

                              regards

i.g.i., 24 Nov 2008If you want your phone to show names instead of numbers typ... moreMy phone shows the names! But only of the predifined number!!

If I have a UNIQUE contact named "John", with these numbers:
                                Home: 123
                                Mobile: 456 (predifined)
                                Work: 789

Then if I receive/make a call to 456, it will display in the screen ""Calling (Mobile symbol) John""... But if I receive/make a call to 123 or 789, it will not display ""Calling (Home symbol) John"" or ""Calling (Work symbol) John"", like it was supposed to do!! It will display "Calling 123" or "Calling 789", because the phone only associates the predifined number to the contact name...

Only solution to this is to create 3 SEPARATED contacts with the 3 numbers above...

By the way, I don't need confirmation on this, because I've already buyed the phone and it has this bug, like the Nokia 1208... A very annoying bug!!

                                Regards!

If you want your phone to show names instead of numbers type in the right prefix of the callers network and sometimes the country when you're saving a contact, especially if he-she is using sim card from another operator, for example in serb.. it's +38163/1234.. or +38164/1234.. for networks with prefixes 063 and 064 and so on, You really dont need to type it anyway because when that person calls you, this type of full length number is displayed and all you have to do is save it under a desired name. It works, trust me i tried it.

good classic phone, with emphasis on build quality, usability and reliability, with prolonged battery life. Im using it for a couple of days and seems it will withstand harsh use. Plastic body is of very good quality, definitively not the same used in some models from 2x, 3x or 6x series
