In my life after Sagem, Siemens, Samsung, Motorola and a Nokia 2700, here comes this 1280, and I must say: I'm loving it! This is a great phone for raugh-n-tough usage.

          About the features:
Big phonebook and message storage is greatly helpful for people who has so many contacts and habitual in texting. Radio is fantastic, eradicates my boredom in city travel. Other organizing features like calendar, alarm, reminder, converter all are so much helpful in many aspects. Most of all - easy to understand and operate.

          About the hardware:
I like its build, particularly the big size buttons which eases my texting operation big-time. The monochrome display is loveable because I don't need to illuminate the display to take a look at the time; also the transition effect sooths a bit more. The torchlight is tiny yet powerful, helps to see my way anytime the power goes out. And it is also fun while cheering in a concert =)

It is not a smartphone, so expecting internet will be foolish. However, I could find only one downside that is- while in a voice call, the back speaker gets louder than the normal ear-side speakers. The channeling of sound could be better!

Overall, this is a great phone and I'm pretty sure if anytime I lost it, I will get one again later (if it is available in the market till then).

just bought the 1280. i found out that the speaker at the back is louder when having a call. the voice of the other person i was talking is heard by the one beside me. why nokia makes phones like this? are all nokia with speaker at the back louder than the earpiece? they say this is also the problem with 1616 and 1800.
