I'm in Indonesia, use nokia 1280 too, my mobile if it is in call and i set the ear volume to 7, it's very uncomfortable, like i can hear my voice too and echoing, is the same problem to your 1280 ??

I am feeling higher radiation. Nokia 1280 has SAR 1.15. As per Nokia "The highest SAR value under the ICNIRP guidelines for use of the device at the ear is 1.15 W/kg.
Anyone else felt same?

One thing I noticed and want to share that while working in Contacts/Phonebook menu the set got restarted (restarted not fully but there was a blank (gray) screen and then started again (without the start-up sound and image of hands).
I hope and am sure its not a serious issue.

I bought 1280 (Black) yesterday (09/10/10) from Karachi, Pakistan. This set is no-nonsense, just do what it is supposed to do. I didn't feel voice leakage. I haven't checked the Phonebook options as yet, but, I am sure it will be quite useful. I couldn't check the battery time as yet. FM quality seems good.
In general, great set. Exactly as per my liking.

This is very useful phone in nokia products also it has radio and its cost is 1250 rs. Only.

i bought a gray n1280 3 days ago as a back up phone for my kid...i used it for a day and a half just curious about it...and found it as a very handy, excellent and useful phone for texting n even for calling(just press d speaker at d back when u make/receive a call itll improved). . .im thinking of buying another one(blue or black) if i cant wait for the nC1-02(noticed the almost same keypads w 1280 lol!)

The Nokia 1280 is a great design, but it falls short on 2 very important things, the conversation comes out the back of the speaker at the same time as the earpiece, 'leakage' I think they call it? Somebody here suggested holding my finger over the speakerphone while talking. No chance, the phone it faulty and Nokia should of caught this before sending it to market. The handsfree isn't loud enough either, so these to issues make the phone useless and I can't recommend it unfortunately.

Just lock the key pad and randomly press any buttons upto 10 digits very fast, you will see that this phone automatically restarts. Nokia have replaced my phone with new ones. But the problem still persists. But you will find this problem with every one of them either new or old. So if you want to change your phones every 10- 20 days then just go for it Nokia care will replace it for free. The R&D lab couldn't fix it also. My advice don't buy it if money means a lot to you. Even others can hear your phone conversations as voice is louder on the speaker than on the earphone.

I bought nokia 1616 and it has the same feature not a problem actually coz i'm using headset for talking. Nokia 1209/1208 is far better than this in terms of talking.
