Anonymous, 23 Oct 2014Since you have read the Nokia 130 user manual before I did,... moreI have reasons to believe this guy 'jamescz' is a troll...

That being said, can you kindly comment whether there is lag while composing long sms, or quickly browsing through all contacts?

I want to get 130 but just want to be clear on this first.

Many thanks...

AnonD-315342, 23 Oct 2014Dude, I already read that before you did. And still Chargin... moreSince you have read the Nokia 130 user manual before I did, may I also assume that you bought a Nokia 130 before I did?

      1. There is NOTHING in my Nokia 130 user manual that states that USB charging is NOT recommended. On the contrary, my Nokia 130 manual clearly states "You CAN use USB charging". I am NOT bothered about some other user manual regarding some other Nokia Phone.

That said, did I even claim that I will ONLY be using USB charging for my Nokia 130? I will use this feature only when I do not have access to a normal Nokia charger. What IS important (to me) is that this emergency feature is not available in the Nokia 107/108. With thin pin Nokia chargers becoming scarce nowadays, a Nokia 130 is more likely to have charge than a Nokia 107/108, if a thin pin charge is not available to charge a Nokia 107/108.

      2. Your claim "Your 130 will be lag due to lack of RAM" misses the point I was trying to make. I use this phone as a secondary/backup phone which will have about 20-30 of my most important phone contacts. Besides, my SMS folders and call logs will be cleaned/deleted every month or so. Hence, where will there be any lag?

If you DO NOT own a Nokia 130, I do not wish to continue debating with a person, who is commenting on the Nokia 130 from mere speculation.

      Thanks.

      YOU SAID:

Dude, I already read that before you did. And still Charging PERMANENTLY through laptop/pc via USB Cable is not recommended (You can find that too in any user manual of Nokia or any brand). It's an Option only because of this:

"You can use USB charging WHEN a wall outlet is not available.
DATA can be transferred WHILE charging the device.
The efficiency of USB charging power varies significantly, and it may take a Long Time for charging to start and the device to start functioning."

Yeah, you can charge because your transferring data. But when you are done? it's better/recommended to charge on outlet, Not on pc/laptop (Else, if you wanna ruin your cp).
Because it's faster on the Outlet and SAFER than via USB Cable always.
When it comes to RAM still, you'll see after a year. Your 130 will be lag due to lack of RAM (RAM is important although it's basic phone. I KNOW it's basic man, but still; my point is 107/108 Have RAM, 130 Doesn't), than Nokia 107 and your 108 does.

[deleted post]AMOLED and camera? Do you own a Nokia 130 or a Nokia 930? I think you have either got yourself a wrong phone or you are a hoax.

I HAVE a Nokia 130 and it has NONE of the two above mentioned features that you claim.

This is the official Nokia page. On this page you can see, under 'Memory' category, no 'RAM' is mentioned.

All modern phones have charging option through USB-even 'if' it is a drawback, all modern phones are to be blamed, not just 130.

              @RAM:

              1) You could have a point there. But just like me, I reckon you have not used 130 personally (or of a friend's), so we are both in same court - so only a person how has used both 108 and 130 can advice better.

I have personally used Nokia 108; one thing i remember-though it is basic set, yet if you are scrolling through all your contact list (like press and hold the 'down' button on mobile), it does flicker from time to time, but never shows any lags (like in older sets like Nokia 1616 which I have also used).

So the reason to say all above: if you do the same to Nokia 130, does it lag? If it does not lag, then seriously, having or not having 4MB Ram does not make any difference to me.

                    Kindly provide more insight..

For me, the capability to charge via a microUSB charge is important as I don't want to roam with a Nokia (small pin) charger and a microUSB charger for my phones. One charger should be in a position to charge all my phones.

Regarding the USB charging facility, dude, please refer to the OFFICIAL Nokia 130 user manual (and not some dubious websites).

The OFFICIAL Nokia 130 user manual states as follows:

"Tip: You can use USB charging when a wall outlet is not available. Data can be transferred while
charging the device. The efficiency of USB charging power varies significantly, and it may take
a long time for charging to start and the device to start functioning."

Regarding the RAM (or lack of it), it makes little difference to me, as long as it functions well enough for my requirements.

For me, the Nokia 130 is clearly a better option than the Nokia 107/108 for quite a few reasons. Use the "Comparison" facility of this website to compare the Nokia 130 with the Nokia 107/108.

Hence, the Nokia 130 can charge through a normal microUSB charger or even via the computer USB port.

The specifications information by gsmarena regarding the USB charging facility for the Nokia 107 is wrong. It uses the small Nokia pin charger.
