AnonD-82756, 01 May 2020Purchased 23/04/20 died 01/05/20 yes that's right my newly ... moreHi, I too am looking at buying one of these Nokia 1.3 phones as well and that's why I'm here reading the GSM user reviews on it first.
I fully understand that you're naturally quite pi*s*d by the fact your new phone has died after just a few days of use, but I would like to now offer you perhaps, a little 'perspective' on that situation.
My own background is now over 50 years of practical hands on experience in the Telecommunications and Electronics industry and I can tell you right now that these sorts of what are termed "Burn-in hardware-failures" occurring in the first three months of the initial use of ..any.. complex electronics system is simply an entirely natural, and accepted fact, by the entire electronics manufacturing industry.
These "Burn-in" failures occur simply because every single individual electronic component, of which there are hundreds, sometimes thousands, that are used in the manufacturing and assembly of all mobile phones, are subject to their own individual respective failure rates, and so the first initial three month period of use is when any of these components, (most of which, are manufactured in China, or other very low labor cost countries, just by the way) which happens to be of, borderline manufacturing quality, will very likely fail, and in that process, then cause the entire complex hardware system that it, is simply a small, but essential part of, to then also fail.
That's why ..the most essential thing.. to look for when buying any, electronic device is the length of the included manufacturer's warranty, which, providing that it covers the first 12 months of the product's use, will also cover the initial highest-risk 3 months period of the product's, normal and fully expected, "Burn-in failure" rates.
Once the product is past that initial 3 months period of continual "Burn-in" usage, the expected on-going failure rates then drop off exponentially, literally, like a dropped stone.
And so, like I first said, your own disappointment in this situation with your own phone is fully understandable, but, it is just a part of the 'lottery' that we all engage in when buying ..any.. complex and lower price-point electronic devices.
The only way around this initial "Burn-in" reliability issue is for us to be willing to initially pay a lot more money, up front, when we buy our own electronic goods to cover not only, the additional costs that will be incurred by any manufacturer when they are themselves, choosing, the 'quality' and hence, the 'reliability' and thus the consequential initial respective price-points of the literally thousands of individual electronic components that they themselves will purchase in, to then be used in their own manufacturing, and assembly line processes, but also, the additional and far more protracted, 'quality testing' or, in other more simple words, "more prolonged, in-house, Burn-in testing" that they will also then be required to undertake in order to 'justify' their own 'higher price-point goods' before finally releasing them out to their own 'brand adoring fans' in the world wide electronic goods consumer market, and even then, that is still not an 'iron-clad guarantee' that they will be able to totally, eliminate any such "Burn-in" failures from occurring in their own consequently, and usually much 'higher price-point' electronics manufactured goods.
At the other end of the quite normal product reliability bell-curve, is the subsequent and again fully to be expected 'end-of-life' rise, that is always seen in the eventually increasing rates of product failures of ..any.. electronic item as it ultimately reaches it's own fully expected end of 'designed life', at which point the owner must then decide whether it's worth them spending their own money on having the now faulty item repaired, or simply trashing it, and moving on to the next, then bigger, better, and current version, of whatever particular 'desirable and shiny-new, consumer electronics bauble' it is, that then takes their own immediate fancy.
And so, what you just need to do now, is to make an immediate claim on your own phone's included warranty, and get it replaced, for free, and then keep your fingers crossed that 'the replacement one' survives that initial, and critical, 3 months "Burn-in" period, and providing that it does, you'll then be very likely be able to look forward to many years of happy and reliable use from it.
ALWAYS, remember, that ..essential 12 months manufacturer guarantee.. whenever you are tempted, to lay down your own hard earned money Folks, and as they say in the classics, them, unfortunately, is just the brutal and harsh facts of, 'cheaper price point' electronic consumer goods, life, that we have all now grown accustomed to, and love so much.

I'm staying well clear of this phone and any future Nokia phones in general. I am going to buy the new Motorola G8 instead. Sorry once again to hear about your pathetic and poor experience so soon after purchase.

Software, b... moreOnly difference mate is size, I have a 2.3 also but have not had a Android 10 update through as of yet so still on Pie so cannot comment on what the performance is like running 10, but at the moment on Pie I would say is the same experience as on the 1.3 apart from the 1.3 running Go applications, batteries last around the same which I have found both good in 1.3 and 2.3.

So I picked one up and am on the second day of usage, with a single phonecall lasting 45 minutes plus setup updating of apps some social browsing, messenging and a play with the camera which is superb I was shocked the quality is great the battery is currently sitting at 50%.
I have noticed no lag at all and all applictions run fluid, screen is nice and clear, voice and in call quality is crystal and audio output on speakers is loud and clear.
All go applications run great smooth and fast I have one non go app and it runs it great also you have the abillity to move applications to SD card.
Only negative I have about the phone is the slow charging but for the price I am very happy with this handset and have it as my daily driver I have no need to spend 100's on a phone that can do the same imo.
Another plus is the weight it is very light and feels comfortable in the hand, I have had a few of the new Nokia sets and they have been shocking but this one I recommend.
