for basic functionality, choose nokia 3110c. by the way what do you mean rough conditions? if you bang or drop your phone a lot or sports enthusiast or an extremist, maybe the phone nokia 3110c nor nokia 6151 is not right for you. try nokia 5500 sport which is shock, dust and splash proof.

Hi Everybody. Which one is a better phone for practical usage. Everyday handling under rough conditions the classic 3110 or the nokia 6151. Just needed for making and receiving calls and little text messages on occassions. Anyone?

for the memory card, i will recommend kingston and if you are in the philippines. buy it at cdr king, price is around P690 pesos (USD16) for 1 gb and P1190 (USD27) pesos for 2 gb. i bought my mini usb cable also at cdr king for P80 pesos only (USD2)

@sss,
actually, Nokia 3110c and Nokia 6151 is just the same . the difference only is nokia 6151 has 3g. if you are not using 3g services then i will recommend you to use nokia 3110c instead because its price is lower and i think better in design category.

hi sorry to all of you earlier i said pooor camera in 3110c but if you guys click when night mode on you will feel u had taken 2mp camera quality pics no doubt one and only 3110c rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkks

gr8 Quality of printouts of pictures taken in Night Mode, Printouts of Normal Mode are gr8 only in Better Light conditions!

@Cris,
Photo quality in printouts is also dependent on the paper you will use and print quality. I will say it is good at wallet size pictures.

Design and Construction
I would like to say that I like the design is quite simple and made up of “durable” materials of plastic and rubber. In comparison to Nokia 6151 which is almost the same as Nokia 3110c, materials used is quite pleasan to the eyes.
Keypad
Keypad have a nice layout including the Navi-Key by Nokia. Keypad will also be useful for users who has big fingers. There is also enough “space” from the down key to number 2 key. It is pretty comfortable feel using this keypad.
Display
This phone has a 1.8-inch screen capable of displaying 262K colors in 128 X 160 resolution. I think the phone should have gotten at least 176 X 220 resolution. I cannot see the richness of 262K colors in this resolution because it seems that it is only displaying 65K colors.
Telephony and Messaging
Messaging features is standard to any newer Nokia Series 40 OS. You can add smileys to your message. Voice calls are also good. Make sure also that Voice Clarity feature is also active. Message alert tones were soft and can be barely heard using the “standard” ringtones e.g. Standard, Special... but using downloaded ringtones or mp3/mp4 as an alert tone, you can hear the difference in the loudness.
User Interface
I think user interface is laid out well and very much easy to navigate. You can have shortcuts using the programmable left and right keys of your phone.
Phonebook
You store up to 1000 dynamic entries to your phone. But for numbers, you can only store up to 5 numbers. It is also easy to navigate in the phone book. You can also add a picture of the contact as contact details and can have a dedicated ringtone for each contact.
Music
Music player is helpful during idle times. I just experience a bug when I had a folder created in my memory card and place my tracks. During play time, it tends to skip but when I placed my music “directly” on the phone and not in a folder, now it plays smoothly.
Video player
At this resolution, video quality I say it is of average quality but it should have gotten a higher resolution video capability. Video quality is poor in low light conditions
Radio
Radio has poor reception even outdoors. I do not know why even outdoor locations. It is worse indoors.
Camera
1.3 MP camera quality is on average quality but poor in low light. Just use it in night mode. You can see the difference of the quality if you transfer it in your pc / mac by the way my OS is Ubuntu 7.04 (can't wait for final realease of Ubuntu 7.10 this month)
Web browser
Web brower is ok and also pre-loaded with Yahoo! Go. Opera Mini also works fine with this phone. In the Philippines, Smart is support GPRS/EDGE/3G(UMTS). I use my phone as modem for my pc using the EDGE network. I am glad that I am using this in Ubuntu 7.04 and I am just sad that it does not support 3G just like Nokia 6151.
Battery Life
Works best in “standard conditions”, a couple of messages and calls and it can last up to 3.5 days but using mp3/web broser/ wap/ modem will make it a less than a day battery life. What I don't like is long charging time of up to 3 hours using AC3U charger.
Connectivity
It has a lot of means to connect, bluetooth, infrared and mini usb
Conclusion

-no 3G

-long charging time
-low resolution screen
Verdict
This is good phone and worth for your money. Price range in the Philippines is P6,500 – P7,500 or USD145 – USD170. I say this is a very good phone in price-feature ratio and performance category.

nokia 3110 good phone but i guess samsung e250 is slightly better than this one in deigning and features

a very gud and simple set. the display is small, but very clear. i have it for the past four months and the only problem i faced was, it restarted a few times. besides that i will say, its worth the money paid. so do buy it if u are looking for a phone with many functions and with a reasonable price.

One More Thing to Omar,
Hey buddy make sure that the .Mp4 u are playing has a resolution of 174x144 otherwise it will not play in ur phone! Use a 3gp conv. for this purpose! mail me if u have any problems! like others do :)

Hey Just Buy the Phone its gr8, if u experience bad camera quality in any condition, JUST open up the Night Mode the screen display will get clear beyond your thoughts; after all its camera is N-Series :D (y)
No restarting problem if u Use only compatible themes of Nokia 3110 CLassic, if u use incompatible themes ofcourse it will result in restarting! E.g: Nokia Orignal Theme is the most compatible theme for 3110c.
