Forget all the meme, this was among the most popular cellphone of it's time, together with the smaller 8250. The main reason it was so popular is because of it's fun factor:
1. Among the first to hide antenna to the body.
2. Fully customizable/changeable front & back cover, keypad button, LED light color, customizable ringtone, operator logo, wall paper.
3. Comfortable size with good layout button even though it is not the lightest and smallest.
4. Affordable, but fully functional just like the more expensive cellphone.
Mine was bought in 2002, I think is the 2nd or 3rd revision with much faster software with blue LED light. I remember sometime at the end of 2003, I upgrade the internal software to 3315, which add more features, especially on wallpaper, particularly the wallpaper editor. After that, I have use the phone for 5 years over my university life even after the advent of the first iPhone. It is one of the miles stone in the cellphone history.

This was heralded as the "most durable" phone of its time. You could drop this down a flight of stairs, people have even dropped this from a drone and it still survived. It was also one of the best selling phones Nokia came up with. I remember that it was almost a tie between this one and the 3210 which it replaced. The problem with the 3210, though it was the first Nokia phone with a built-in antenna and slim design, once it bent a bit in your back pocket, the display would suddenly stop working. I remember having to bend these back into shape for the screen to work again. This was the only Nokia unit that has since spawned several revival units, but none of which sold very well. What I will always remember about this unit is that i bought it from a girl i was once dating so i could give it to my sister as her first mobile phone. This was also the time my mom "inherited" my Nokia 3510. #goodtimes
