After updating its software(OS) everything works fine i.e browsing speedy and everything works perfect and with v5 series,I think its an ideal phone for some1 to have..

i have been using this phone from 2010 but i have no complain yet...it is very user friendly. though its a completely touch phone but its very hardy

I have this phone and I love it.
But. there's one problem. it just shuts down/ turns off for no reason =-= and it's really annoying. I had it fixed but repairman(?) said that there was no problem with it. BUT it still turns off. any ideas what to do? because i really love this phone.

Mobile is good but battery is very poor and get hanged very fast.

this phone supports maximum applications which are newly created , so i love this phone & i m using this phone from last 3 years, goood camera quality also

Hey freinds, im using nokia 5230 its a best fone i tell u to purchase,
bur Advtge is that Net speed is too fast in 2g also, good camera, very good display and is supports many of apps.
but disadvtg is that poor battery backup, it won't show screen display in sunlight and mp3 volume is too slow
This are all right info. im giving u.......
But are all are good fone im using from past 1 & half year

one of the best phones of nokia...which has 3g that 5233 lacks and the rest of the specs are decent for this handset in its price range..
Only prblm is it has a low ram and verry little internal memory....which makes multi tasking bit slow
I've had this phone for more than a year n i love it..

Hey & 1 more thing, when I wrote 'mpeg4' video codec, I meant video codecs 'x264 & xvid' are not supported. So maybe the video that you transferred in your phone might be of 'x264 or xvid' codec. Hope this helps :)

I use 'Any Video Converter' Free Software on my PC to convert videos & then transfer them to my phone.
Check the following:-
1) Select the 'mpeg4' video codec but not 'x264/xvid' codecs.
2) Set video resolution to '640x360' but not greater than that.
3) Set audio codec to 'mp3/aac/wma'.
4) Set fps i.e., Frames per second to 25 or whatever the original video has, I think 5230 runs videos with max 30fps though I'm not sure about 30fps.
In my phone videos with 25fps-28fps run amazingly fine in Real Player.
5) Transfer the converted video to your phone & You're done! ; Hope this helps :)
I've not tried using Nokia's Video Manager in PC Suite Software but I think it works fine too.

I think you might be having a higher capacity microsd card eg. 8gb, 16gb. When I inserted 8gb card on my phone some of the songs were not showing in the music library but after installing the music player update & firmware updates the problem was resolved.
But specifically in YOUR CASE, I think you should 1st take full backup of your phone on your PC, then do a complete reset including formatting the memory card & hard resetting the phone. Ater doing all that, Restore the backup data to your phone, install the updates & you're done! hope this helps :)

I select the codec 'mpeg4' & Video resolution as '640x360'. also check the frames per second 'fps' In my Nokia 5230, videos with 25-28fps run just fine. I'm not very sure of videos with higher fps. But, I think videos with 30fps run fine too. Also, check your Audio codec 'wma,mp3,aac' are nicely supported. I prefer 'mp3/wma' audio codec.
