Pinoy, 25 May 2010Not sure but i guess you'd have problem later on. even in t... moreI have noticed that on three 5230 handsets a problem with the plastic housing around the slide standby switch. It creaks as the plastic is very THIN. I have one which is perfect, but as stated it seems to be inconsistent and vary between individual samples. The 5800 did not suffer this problem at all. However, if you look at a 5800 it is I feel shrouded with a slightly tinted panel over the screen, maybe this is due to the scratch resistant cover, I don't find the 5230 scratch resistant and have kept on the protective plastic for now. The 5230 results in having a brighter screen than 5800. When you consider the difference in price the 5230 still is the bargain of the decade, OK you don't get secondary camera, auto focus and flash, or built-in stylus, but the main ingredients are there. I think this is the best deal especially on prepay!

Then goto applications, location and then try and get a new lock on your position via gps. After that open maps again and your current location should be displayed in the map based on your gps data.

Guyz.. bought this set yesterday so havent checked it thoroughly yet. But wats bothering me is the volume of the external speaker. Havent transferred any audio files yet but both with the ringtone and radio volume set to maximum, the external speaker volume is very low. Needed to know if dats the case with my set only or are all 5230 sets like dat? One more thing the radio volume through the default earphones is not high either. Wat do u guyz say?

Pinoy, 25 May 2010Let me enlighten you with the issue of read/write speeds of... moreYes i do agree mate.... But class 6 cards are generally high end cards with high quality flash chips. This means that the read speeds are also marginally better than class 6 or class 4 cards. You cannot actually benchmark it with an ordinary card reader. The transfer speeds are thus limited by the maximum transfer speed of the card reader. That is the same case if you connect the phone directly. To make t a fair test, you'll have to use a high end card reader which can use the full transfer speed. This is the reason being most card showing similar read speeds. But when the card is inserted onto the phone, the class 6 compliant phone can fully utilize the extra read speeds and work more efficiently without any bottle neck. This means that more applications can read the card contents at the same time and this is what actually improves the speeds. Not to mention the phone is always in a dynamic state and always a small amount of data is read and written all the time because of the operating system. Installing applications onto the memory card require a lot of data that need to be loaded onto the memory for running the app. How efficiently this transfer take place determins the spped at which the application can be run. For a class 6 card, the minimum read speed is about 24mbps. Which means even at a lower power like that on a cell phone, this card can work at a minimum of 24mbps releiving the phone of the extra load. I know these facts are not definitive and lacks evidence but it's upto the user to feel the difference and the thing is i do feel a heck of a lot of difference.

5230 and 5233 come with the same software configuration. There are only hardware differences.
                              5230 is a 3G enabled handset whereas 5233 is non 3g.
And 5230 has an assisted GPS receiver which is absent in 5233.
But if you are only trun listening music and want run some good applications then both will do the same job.
In my opinion you must choose 5230 because you should not compromise for 3g while choosing for a touch smartphone.

Nishad, 25 May 2010Hi seniors... can i change the panel of my 5233 with origin... moreNot sure but i guess you'd have problem later on. even in the back cover, the cameras of the 5800 and the 5230 are not perfectly aligned. Nokia changed some of the hardware in the 5230.

Maybe you should've bought the 5235, it has a chrome lining but still the rest of the case is plastic.

Just buy a jelly case and everything will be solved. lol

As for us who don't need the wifi capability of the 5800, this phone is exactly what we need at the price we can afford. If 3G and GPS isn't your thing, you can even further save some money and buy the 5233.
