I'm planning to buy this Nokia 5230, but one thing which is very important to me is FM radio reception. Is it good? Because currently I have Nokia E51 and I'm not satisfied with its radio reception (almost always plays mono, rarely stereo) and sound quality. Before I had simple Sony Ericsson and its FM radio reception was really good.

Ok here is a list of things that I am capable of doing with my 5233 on an Airtel EDGE internet connection.

                            1) I can browse all sites using the default browser or using Opera Mobile. The latter is much faster and the data usage is lower. I can view flash videos though it takes a bit more time to load up. And I can also download files from files hosting servers like rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, etc.

                            2) I can listen to Shoutcast internet radio with over 26000 stations and stream high quality 128kbps or even 192kbps mp3 without any interruptions.

                            3) I can be connected all day long to multiple im's like gtalk, yahoo, aim, twitter and even skype using the fring client. It even allows me to make voip calls which are especially good during night time.

                            4) I can watch live TV using SPB mobile tv client without much trouble. I get continuous video playback during night time when internet traffic is low. i set the quality to low but even at low quality the picture is good enough.

                            5) I can use the builtin facebook app to update my status and even take pictures directly using the camera and directly upload it to my albums.

                            6) Or download movies occassionally using the Symtorrent app. Let me tell you that I get 25-33kBps speeds for torrents with large number of seeders. Even downloaded 3-4 movies.

All this on an Airtel EDGE connection. So what I am trying to prove is that even without 3G, this phone can do most things that a #G phone is capable of doing. In my city, BSNL 3G is everywhere but only in papers and large flexes. Here HSDPA is only a distant dream. All 3.5G devices show just 3G. This is the case with most suburban and urban areas of India. And in most places good old EDGE is the only way to access Internet. This is what prompted me to opt 5233. I've been an airtel user since day 1 and there is no way i'm gonna change my connection to BSNL just for the speed. And 3G is still expensive as there is no flat rate plan like GPRS. It's data usage based. So that is the price you gotta pay for speed. What to choose between the two is upto us to decide. Is it the overly expensive less dependable high speed 3G with less coverage or the highly dependable most advance EDGE connectivity with super wider coverage and a nomianl rate. Not to mention the standby time which is almost double for 2G network.
I guess i'll just stick to my 5233 atleast till networks bring 3G with affordable tariffs and a flat rate unlimited data plan.

You have to sign the app to install it on your phone as most apps come as unsigned versions. I can only help you so much as it is against the rules to discuss such kind of topics. Just check out cer. opda . cn on how to sign your own apps. All instructions are give there.

Using your default browser, you should be able to play most video content from websites but with opera mobile you cannot. And some sites use newer flash standards which the browser may not be able to play. That might be the reason. Try installing flashlite 3.1. It is available for free download.

Yes this phone operates a bit differently from the s40 platform. So you cannot set live screen savers as wallpapers.

Yes flash wallpapers can be viewed using the builtin flash player but cannot be set as wallpaper. And mind you that these things applies to all s60v5 phones.
