hi. nokia lovers in mumbai. after a long search i got 5230 mobile in nokia priority at shimpoli road, borivali west. their phn no is 02228333489. i know many people wants to buy. my first impression is i m impressed. but i cant comment much as this is my first touchscreen mb so i dont know how good other mobiles are. i hav few questions for its users
1. which is the reasonable headset to use with this having both music listening & call handling capacity. 2. which datacable i should take as they dont provide it with box. pls tell cost of both datacable & headset. 3. i want live call recording facility. what should be done. 4. i am using reliance gsm. is it good for internet use and how can i use gps & 3G with it. pls explain. thnx in advance.

When i go to application manager>installation files my phone freezes earlier it wasnt happening can anyone tell whats the reason and cure?

What about the sound quality in earphone???
I don't want to hear music at loudspeaker but in my Philips earphone....
please compare it with Nokia 5800 earphone sound quality...

Does firmware update fix the problem of 64k sim incompatibility with 5230? If anyone knw plz help,because i want to buy this and somebody has told that in this mobile it is unable to save the configuration msg sent by the service provider.

Dude I Personally know someone who bought a FAKE .... "A FAKE" Nokia N97 (In Bombay) just because he wanted to get it as CHEAP as Possible Just like YOU. I Repeat I am not TALKING BlacK-Market ---- I MEAN FAKE as in FAKE. The whole Mobile Market Community (including Black Market) already know that Nokia 5230 & N97 are the FLAVOR of the Season & they are Selling like Hot Cakes. Right now the whole Black-Market is full of FAKE 5230 & N97 so now its you who has to watch your STEP very carefully.
NOTE: By Black-Market I dont just mean Heera Panna or places like Moosaafir Khaannaa but I also mean some very PROMINENT & Well Known Malls in double Quotes & you wont even doubt them cause they are HUGE & well known.
SO I Guess YOU & everyone else wont just keep an eye on the Price TAG but a lot of other things too. Nokias Official 5230 MRP (printed on box) in India is Rs 9389/- but you can get it for less depending on the region or if the shopkeeper hasnt paid the TAXES. I GOT it 2 months back for Rs 8990/- in Bombay.
DONT GET FOOLED in those BRIGHT LIGHTs.

DO YOU Even know what you are talking about. 79 & 296 JEEZzzz....... GOOD GOD!!!!! Who Gave you those numbers. haha even iPhone or HTC wont claim that kind of nuumber. Nokia has OFFICIALLY given this phone a Music Playback Time of 33Hrs.... Now what they mean is 33 Hrs of ONLY Music Playback & nothing et all. BUT we all know that we are gonna make CALLs send n recieve messaages, the Network Antenna is gonna keep searching & be connected to the network the whole day & ALL of these activities need Battery POWER. So with a mixture of all those ACTIVITIES anyone and everyone should be able to get a battery life of 15 - 22 Hrs MAX. I Personally have a very GOOD Experience with this Phones Battery compared to my iPod Touch. For GoDs Sake it has a powerful battery of 1320mAh hehe
NOTE: There are a lot of factors that a battery life depends on You have to understand the TERMINOLOGY Properly.

I am a huge fan of Opera on desktop as well as Mobiles so I guess I will recommend Opera for you. Although there is this new Chinese Browser available out there thats supposedly Super Sonic in the Mobile Browsing World. It has very new out of the box features but for me "Better Stay away from Chinese ware cause you never know their INTENTIONs"
NOTE: Opera is available in different flavours & many here will recommend Opera Mini but the FACT is Opera Mini is actually made for those OLD Low Down Mobiles but for the SmartPhone Category Like 5800, 5230 or say iPhone or HTC they have a different version altogether.
SO Just SEARCH for Opera Mobile for SMARTPHONE the latest version is Opera Mobile v10 BETA

NO...NO...NO.... It doesnt work that way. Every Phone Model that Nokia makes, works on a totally different kind of Firmware version & every model has its respective firmware update. Right now Nokia 5800 latest firmware version stands at v40.0.005 compared to Nokia5230s v12.0.089 & that further gets classified into your Model Type depending upon your region ie people accross different continents get different kind/version of updates.
This is the same reason why Nokia has started providing Firmware Updates only through Nokia Software Updater or OVI, so that NOVICE users dont get all confused & dont end up with a DEAD Phone. When you connnect your phone to your PC then NSU or Ovi will automatically know which Firmware Update your particular device needs.
NOTE: There are just a few very important things to be taken care of before updating your firmware. Just read the steps that the NSU or Ovi show veery carefully. And yeah the actual firmware update only takes aroud 3-5 mins the major part of the time is taken while downloading the firmware.

I am using this phone for about 2 weeks. This is value for money. If it is not available, wait for5235. Dont go for 5233.

omkar, 06 Mar 2010very nice phone and battery backup i bought this phone yesterday but haven't opened the packaging yet.. according to the vodafone website it has very poor battery life with 79hrs as opposed to the samsung toco lite at 296!!! how's the battery life for you?
