Read somewhere in the manual the more open application you have, the more power phone will consume. Now you can close the application by tapping 'Options' and then 'Exit' within the application menu. But this requires switching to the application and scrolling down to bottom of menu. I found a neat trick on one of the 5230 dedicated blogs to close the applications quickly. To do so, hold the menu key (center) to show the open applications list. Then keep the finger/stylus on the application icon (do not tap it otherwise you will open it) and it will show a popup menu with option to 'Exit. Finally select Exit and confirm it.
Have you found any such tricks on your beloved 5230 ?

Already I got the GPS lock, but the thing is when I activate GPS in offline mode it always shows "calculating the route". Patiently I have tested for half an hours but still it shows like that only.

When I tried GPS in online mode it always shows "something went wrong and the connection is failed".

                      Please help

Moses, 23 Feb 2010Hi prayag are you using GPRS for GPS I am using BSNL ... moreHi,

I am not using GPRS for GPS. When you try to use GPS without GPRS it does take time to acquire GPS lock. It varies from 1 mins to 5 mins. (First time may take upto 10 mins I think). So go out in open away from tall building a give it a try. For instructions search in previous postings.
Funny BSNL saying 5230 is not a 3G phone. As far as I understand it does not matter whether you have 3G or plain GPRS for assisted GPS. Although having 3G should given even faster assisted GPS experience than GPRS.
I am on vodafone GPRS and I did try assisted GPS once just for testing and it seemed to have worked.

are you using GPRS for GPS

I am using BSNL 3G with the activation of GPRS

I could not use the GPS in offline mode.

for online mode I could not, when I contacted the customer care they said 5230 is not a 3G phone and not eligible for GPS usage.

                                  Regards

                                  Moses

Hope it answers your query.
