Hi, friends after reading ur reviews i wanted to buy nokia 5230 but i m not getting it in stores at present. i searched in few nokia prio, the mobile store, one mobile but its not der. by the way i stay in mumbai- kandivali. I hav few questions. 1. which stores r nokia priority as der r many with nokia written on board. how is THE MOBILE STORE with their attractive schemes. wht about ONE MOBILE shop. 2. what do u get on purchase of mobile as a warranty. is it warranty card or just bill? 3. or should i take 5233 instead from THE MOBILE STORE as they r giving philips headphone free with it. mobile price 8000/- there. 4. OR should i opt for samsung star or corbys 5. i m going 2 chennai in few days. should i see der. they r having less price also. how..? and will it b problem if i purchase from der and cum back to mumbai..regarding warranty or repairs in future. PLS GUIDE. thanx in advance.

Hello to all my friends out there, hope my review and suggestions will help you in some way or the other. To begin with let me first inform you that its been exactly 1 week since I bought the Nokia 5233 Xpress Music, and I must say i'm quite satisfied but after consoling me a little. I was new to the touchscreen concept as this is my first touch device. Like everyone else i too had my fears but not anymore. The first and the biggest fear I had was about texting, which i misconstrue that it might be a way too tedious to type on a touchscreen device. But contradicting to my fear the messaging part was the coolest and most easiest thing that I found in this device. Gsmarena gives you a total review of its pros & cons of this mobile. So let me skip all that and come straight to the hands on experience part of my review:
CAMERA: Not The Best In Class nowhere near the word Best but let me say a little less than average.
VIDEO: JUST EXCELLENT. I'd rate it 11/10
(some of you might be dubious on this as to how come the video can excel when cam is so low, to which i answer that the recording is done at VGA 30fps and it really makes a hell lot of difference. There are also other fones which do it in QVGA and that is even more better i'd agree).
SOUND: Volume is neither too low nor much loud. I'd call it DECENT. Remember you've only got 1 speaker, how much cud u expect.
DRAWBACKS:
RAM MEMORY KEEP RUNNING SHORT. Applications automatically keeps shutting down due to low memory. But this can be ruled out if you've got "Ramblow" installed. Its a software that will clean ur Ram to boost memory.
SUNLIGHT LEGIBILITY IS GRUESOME. You'll really suffer bad if u are out there in sun and got a call. You'll really wont be able to make out whose calling you, yes its that bad.
BATTERY: Not powerful but still has a good back up. Depends upon ur usage. Just imagine 16million colors and 3.2" screen, come on guys hav some mercy. But i'd rate it 7/10
Few bugs like volume rocker fails to zoom in the photos and keypad goes numb failing to give the vibe effect but then all these minor issue can be fixed after a restart. But kind of irritating you see cause it happens often.
THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS THE USER INTERFACE AND TOUCHSCREEN USABILITY. I'm really loving it cause it so new to use and fun.
People who can have an attitude of overlooking minor issues can go for this beauty. After all the price is so catchy that you'll literally dream of having one in your hand. Beware camera lovers....

1. Tap ovi map icon and then tap tool icon.
2. Select 'Navigation'. In the 'Drive guidance' field select your preferred voice type.
3. Tap 'Back' and then 'Menu'.
4. Tap 'Drive' and then 'Set Destination'. Select one of the destination from Favourites or by 'Searching'.
5. Once you get the GPS signal, the software will begin guiding. Check out the 'options' at bottom for additional tasks and information

Usually we do this with paper maps by keeping in mind where we actually we are on the map. On Nokia 5230 you can use GPS to do the same. The phone shows you the map as well your almost correction location. There is also a mode where it guides you to reach a specified destination by telling when to take a turn and in which direction. The maps keep updating while you drive/walk. It also recalculate new route if you take a turn which was not suggested by it.
I hope to use it to navigate around Delhi. Till now by trusted Eicher map or my wife helped me. But now when she is not with me on trip I will turn to 5230 to guide me :-)

hi guys,
i bought dis mobile last month. MObile is awsome apart frm some lacking points.I got wid 4 gb cards, I downloaded ABC 3gp convertor which convert the avi movie in mp4 n the clarity is too good. I also bought nokia 5800 headphone wid dis and the beats/bass booster was completely good. I am Satisfy wid dis mobile,
I wanna to download some appl. like adobe reader to check pdf files, adobe photoshop, Mp3 player and antivirus so plz mentiond the sites...
i m waiting for response

Plz plz can anyone tell me what is the use of gps. i wanted n5230 for gps but stores here are just providing 5233 which doesnt have gps. they say 5233 also has gps which only works through gprs. .. plz answer my question..

I got the red dot,... moreLooks like that you are searching for a location which might not be in map DB that was downloaded. First try a well known location like 'Delhi'. If you see results that you know everything is fine. Except that the location you are searching might not be there. Somebody had already menitoned that the map does not have small towns of India.
For a unknown location you can find longitude and latitude from google maps and add this location to ovi map. Then go to this location via menu and find a POI (point of interest) near it. Then if you want navigate to you set this POI as destination. I have found the application can not calculate routes for your added location in certain case but does well for POIs.

I am using it...it is the best phone in touch group.the resolution is brilliant, the sound is awesome, the battery is good too.I give it 10/10.

Are you using GPRS for GPS
TanxI am using GPS only. Here are the steps (you can find others too in this forum by searching for GPS or GPS lock). I am assuming that you have micro usb cable.
1. From nokia site download PC suite and install it.
2. From nokia site download ovi map application. It will have extension sis.
3. Connect your phone to PC via micro USB cable and double click the ovi map .sis file. Check your phone screen to complete the installation. This will update already present the ovi map application on your phone.
5. Run the application once and accept the agreement and exit without going further.
4. Now dowloand 'map installer' windows application on your PC from nokia site and install it on your PC.
5. Run it to download map for india and few voice guidance files of your choice. The application will also install these files to your phone.
6. On your phone go to menu | settings | phone | Application sett. | Positioning | Positioning method. Disable all except Integrated GPS.
7. On home screen of phone tap ovi map icon and tab the tool icon. Select 'Internet' and then set 'Connection' as 'offline'.
8. Go outside in open away from tall buildings and back in ovi map menu on phone tap 'My position' . Wait upto 15 minutes (in my case it was 10 mins) for the GPS lock to be acquired. You know when it is acquired when you see a red dot at actual current location. Also the signal strength at bottom right of screen will be at about at least 2 levels or more (in Noida it is about 5 levels)
Now walk, drive and have fun.
