SR, 07 Feb 2010How on earth can a 40 tonne truck trigger kinetic scrolling... moreThis phone has got it's good points and bad points.
My comments are based on 3 days usage.
Some of my negative comments may be unfair, it may be a problem with vodafone rather than the nokia.
I am comparing it with the t-mobile pulse, which is an android with a capacitive touch screen.
Good points:
Load quailty audio.
Screen resolution when reviewing photos.
Camera is fine, despite the reviews.
Video recording high quality.
Virtual keyboard very responsive and accurate.
Handwriting recognition is very accurate.
Screen is responsive when choosing icons and menu items.
Haptic feedback.
Built in web browser supports flash lite 3.1 (with upgrade).
Bad points:
Loading web pages using built in browser is slow.(Try loading rp.pl) (Could be Vodafone dropping from 3.5G to 3G to edge).
Google maps also slow to load satellite view and street view.
Font in browser could be nicer looking!
Scrolling a web page after it has fully loaded is crap. On my android it's like driving a luxury car. Here it's like driving a car with four square wooden wheels! (this is what I ment by kinetic scrolling)!
GPS is average. Of my 4 GPS enabled phones, this comes in second place.

Hi all,
can someone pls answer d below mentioned?
1) can you directly save files to d memory card or do u have to keep moving it from the phone?
2) can you upload pics directly to the web like facebook,twitter etc?

Hw is touchscreen 4 msgng purpose wl it dissappoint me again i didnt lyk n97 touch ?i mean wl i b able to type with thumbs at speed lyk physical pad widout errors?

this one's my second touchscreen handset , previously i've been using samsung star 3G which turn out to be boring in comparison to nokia5230 especially symbian & ovi store makes it fun to use. However, it's 3G but devoid of video calls, or am i missing something.plz specify if i can enable this feature.

Its called kinetic because it actually gives you a feeling of inertia (or momentum) in it. It continues to scroll if you flick on the screen. Its not there in some places only like in menus where icons are present. This is a UI flaw which is shared by 5800 XM, N97, N97 mini, X6 etc. Rest every where you get kinetic scrolling.
One more thing, iif you find the in built browser slow you can download Opera Mobile 10 / Mini 5 and try them. Its Symbian after all.

Hey Guyz
The guyz at Nokia PD in Noida,India said that 5230 has been put out of production by Nokia. Then they said that only one lot of 5230 came and there is no news on the 5230's future stock lots.
Some other shop told me that 5230 was not working for Hutch and Idea Networks , which sounds absurd to me but the fact is that Nokia 5230 is not available in the market for the time being. This could be due to a fault in 5230's current lot or they are holding the stocks back to push 5233 sales.
The advertisements of 5230 are still on and that suggests that 5230 is going to come back, atleast i hope that.
Anyone amongst all of you who are using 5230 can show some light on the n/w portability or 5230 and tech flaws, if any. We all who are planning on buying 5230 will really appreciate your effort and time.

The browser is slow, very slow compared to my last phone.
The kinetic scrolling ? What kinetic scrolling. This phone would not recognize kinetic scrolling if it was hit with a 40 ton truck.
Otherwise it is fine.
Camera, better than I expected.
Sound is superb.
GPS about average. But it works!
Screen good.

oh i forgot to tell the down part of my experience. i hate the 2mp camera and worst their is no flash. and when transfering data through bluet0oth is a hassle, how can i save it directly to the mem0rycard? 0ne m0re thing, 0nly 4 shortcut ic0ns are available in h0mescreen below.
This is actually my 6th m0bile ph0ne since, but its my 1st touch ph0ne and symbian. overall im loving it. 5610xm is still my lover, but this 5230 is my fantasy. ü

i had bought mine just yesterday. and my first experience is very c0ol. loudspeaker is great eventhough its m0no, but it sounds alm0st stereo. i threw the pr0vided earph0ne and used an0ther 0ne, and the sound is superb! the gps map experience interest me especially the voice navigati0n. Builtin browser surfs me so fast though i havent tried downloading stuffs yet. Touch sensitivity and kenetic scr0lling enjoys me much. im really happy with 5230!

but i read many of the reviews that said that 5230's music player is very very bad...that is sumthing i cant do without and also that the touch sensitivity is low...
i cant do without the music part so i was confused abt this phone?? is it really so? or does it vary from 1 piece 2 the other as a defect
