Oftenly restart problem i dont know how to tackle this except this one phone is really good but little more expensive compare with Samsung corby.

so finally my wait for this phone paid :).
Bought today at 8700 (with 2Gb) card with free good Reebok bag as gift :) from The mobile store Noida. (local dealer price 8200 in NCR)
Phone is really cool. Camera quality and big screen (3.2 inc) love that. No problem at all... speaker volume little bit ow but no issue with my iPod headphone its gud.

one query, i just bought a leather case for this which has plastic shield form size. (actually it was for 5800 but dim are same in both). It made my phone little bit bulky... please advise should I keep my phone in case or use without case.

Will pots for after xploring phone... my rating 9/10 :)

Hi All Nokia 5230 users and people who needs to buy..i have my opinion about this phone which i listed below...

I bought this phone for my dad on his birthday and i used it for 1 week... I used Nokia 5800 for 1 year..
I bought this phone for 8600 Rs in chennai from nokia priority dealer.

I had a confusion btwn Samsung Star and Nokia 5800.. But i selected this phone for following reasons.
1. Nokia build is stronger and realiable than samsung.
2. It has 3.5 mm jack..samsung star doesnt have that.
3. This has open source OS Symbian..i can install as many applications i need. Samsung star is not for this.
4. All say smasung star has better UI.. But for me this has stable UI.. Even though samsung is so fasinated.
Note: In some aspects samsung star is head over nokia 5230 but im not luking in to tht..
like..
1. wifi.(my dad has laptop nt going to use wifi in mobile)
2. 3.2 MP camera (but not great quality)
3. More fashionable UI.
4. Speaker volume is louder than nokia 5230.

Advantages of Nokia 5230 over Nokia 5800..
1. Good UI ...more smooth. Kinetic scrolling is excellent.
2. Display is very very bright and vibrant.. pictures luking stunning than Nokia 5800.
3. Eventhough camera quality is 2 MP the picture quality is 100 times better than 3.2 MP Nokia 5800 pictures.
4. In the home screen now u can add up to 20 contacts and u can kinectic scroll the contacts which luks so nice.
5. When receiving the incoming call.. u need to first unlock the phone lik apple iphone style.. \this is good improvement than nokia 5800.. Bcoz in nokia 5800 its just one single touch u need to answer..its a problem u may mistakly press the screen. So this is overcome by Nokia 5230.
6. Typing text is more smooth and less error. If u tilt the mobile the type buttons automatically goes to full qwerty keypad mode. This is not possible in nokia 5800.
7. Music quality produced by Nokia 5230 is far better than nokia 5800 and its best quality comparable with ipod output.
Overall the Nokia 5230 is better in UI and music features than Nokia 5800.

Disadvantages of Nokia 5230 over Nokia 5800..
1. Speaker volume is low than 5800 and it is only 60% of nokia 5800.
2. The headset given along with nokia 5230 package is a crap.. its no use..but if u use other headset with better quality u can get the best output from this mobile. Remember its quality is equal to ipod.
3.The plastic panel case luks cheaper than nokia 5800. But if u put case over it thn its not a problem.
4. No wifi, No flash(even with flash nokia 5800 is crap) all this u knw.
5. The package doesnt comes with CD (ofcourse u can download), no memory card, no datacable ( if u have memory card reader u can tranfer data. But updating Formware needs cable :( )

This are the main important things i noticed quickly btwn this 2 mobile. If i forsee anything more ill update u people. I hope my comments help u people to select btwn

There are other posts on this forum that claims that in Mumbai 5230 is priced 8300 + VAT (@ 12.5%) that turns out to be 8300 + 1037.5 = 9337.5/-
5230 bought in 8300 seems like being bought without paying VAT i.e. grey market. Without warranty.
So ofcourse you've mentioned that you've checked with two NPDs about the price but what is the price breakup.

and what's the VAT applicable in Karnataka.

Yes, like every phone this one also has back light and you can adjust the brightness too, but this is not the problem with Nokia 5230.

This are my observations from the package and the handset.

_Total Rs. 8299 (Bangalore)
_Black and "light black" shade, Not Silver.
_2 stylus present, 1-Plectrum, 1-Stick.
_10 free audio tracks from "Nokia Music"

+ Touch Sensitivity is superb.
+ Black color ads Class to the handset.
+ Display is superb
+ 1320 Mah Battery for long backup.

- Sound volume really low.
- Screen not "at all" visible at day.
- No Datacable, memorycard and pouch.

Still, this is a superb handset and i am in love with this Tech-Darling.

Lastly. friends, please REMEMBER to charge the phone for at least 20 hours before the first continuous use.

well the specs are really good compared to the price...the 3.2 inch screen and 3g is really a good package..but my question is does it do these jobs perfectly..symbian still has a lotta bugs and is stillnot so drooly like the o.sof other phones..but over allits good.....and its a little bulky...and use a good pair of headphone for the phone since the bundled headphone may not be good considering the price...

The volume which is a bone of contention is through its inbuilt speaker which is not a stereo one.
If you donot like the headphone sound quality (and not volume) you can buy a new pair of headsets. The sound reproduction by 5230 (i.e. the quality of music playback) is top notch.

These pones have a widget based home screen. Nokia has innovated. And there are reports of people unofficially porting these widgets into 5800 XM and probably will be ported to 5230.
The reason why 5800 or 5230 doesn't have those widgets is because these are not N-series and donot have the pop sliding keyboard.
But 5230 / 5800 have their own active standby.

And 5230 / 5800 being a smart phone has various 3rd party developments like getting an iPhone like UI.
