Hi Jacky, I have the same issue, and also when using GPS, its very hard to search for satellite, but after changing the SIM card, (another SIM card with only 2G package),it does not happen again, you must also upgrade to software version V11.0.079 using PC suite.

Is it true that this phone does not have stereo sound? The review says so.

Can anyone help on GPS software for garming . I had one 5230 and try to install the latest garming and it good . The problem come when you turn off the phone and can't turn it on again .
And i remove the memory card then only can power on .After power on put the memory card in ,amazing it working . but it can't power on with the memory (with garming GPS ).
Please advice

when i first saw this phone in the mall it costs around PHP10k, i thought it was a complete waste of money, but after just two weeks the price went down to PHP7.7k, amazing..its cheaper than the wifiless samsung star and its a smartphone, i'll consider this mobile when the need to replace my phone comes up. wish there was a cameraless and gpsless version of this one, i really couldn't use the camera, or the gps, but i would make a good organizer and movie or music player.

I forgot to mention, people prolly wonder how come mine has a stylus and the one in the review doesn't. I think Nokia changed the back cover coz it's where the stylus is located...

Just got one the other day for 9400php (philippine peso) and I must say it goes way beyond what I expected. Like someone said there's this ticking sound when music player switches to the next song but after a software update it's gone. About people whining about this fone not having wifi, I think the point of this fone is to have a 3-3.5g and gps alternative to the 5530. If wifi's your thing, choose that. On my part there are very few wifi spots in my place and those that have ones are encrypted so 3g is a more stable choice for me.
My package conflicts with the review though, as it has no extra back cover, has 2gb microsd card and it has a stylus, i repeat, it has a stylus...
touch response and kinetic scrolling is better than 5530 (I was able to try as my girlfriend has one) and became even better after the software update.
the only downside of this fone on it's price range is the camera as it only has 2mp and no flash but then again you're not buying it coz of the camera...
The plectrum thing is really cool as you don't have to pull out the stylus everytime you need one.
And the audio quality is just superb as they say. I use a pair of creative ep-630 earfones with it.
All in all I'm really happy with it :)

I used a demo unit, the nokia has a long way to go before it matches up with the samsung.

Soon after the announcement of the Nokia 5230, it's time now to welcome another Music oriented phone from Nokia. Say hello to the just introduced Nokia
5235. Note that the 5230 was not an XpressMusic branded phone, neither is this one. However, it does come with the "Comes With Music" service loaded.

Its a very good phones for its price.dont blame nokia for it.many people dont like to pay much money for mobiles and surely 5230 is better than star or cookie.
