AnonD-5759, 25 Apr 2011Will burn-in leads to any damages to ear phone??Hw long sho... moreIt's required for brand new earphones only, you won't notice any changes on used pairs. I do burn-ins with a playlist of heavy metal songs(20hrs), did white noise(empty radio freq) for around 10 hrs and freq sweep for 4hrs. Burn-ins using songs are not dangerous but using pink/white noise can damage your driver if the volume is set too high.
More info on the following site, it also contains different burn-in and test files.

AnonD-335, 24 Apr 2011I'm not surprised, you would have choosen panasonic even if... moreI've been following all the suggestions, but didnt really get any of the headphones mentioned, so just out of curiosity, searched headphones in ebay sometime back and ended up buying sony ex mdr-700, got it around Rs.850, they are a good bang for money, people searching for good headphones, may have a look at these headphones, sounds really pleasing, bass is pretty bombastic , mids are a bit high but sound good, in fact rock enthusiasts can rejoice over these as they really deliver really good highs and mids.

AnonD-6805, 24 Apr 2011Well,i compared them at a shop and I observed that the pana... moreI'm not surprised, you would have choosen panasonic even if you were comparing it against the likes of 9700/9800. A shop is not the ideal place for earphone shootouts, specialy IEMs.
Two things to keep in mind while using an IEM.
1) A proper air tight seal is necessary for getting good output. Else you won't get any lows or mids. If you new to IEMs, you may not focus on perfect fit while testing.
2) Most branded IEMs(especially Philips) needs a burn-in of many hours(could be anywhere between 10-50 hours) before they produce their true output. This is probably the reason why you didn't like them, I had a similar experience when I used my SHH9700 after buying it. It sounded like crap, no bass, no mids just highs. But, then I read a review of SHE9500 where the writer had a similar problem. After hearing the solution he did a burn-in of 72 hours and the sound quality improved dramaticaly. I did the same(though not 72 hrs continuously) and it started sounding better. Same thing happened to Sidewinder, he was pretty mad at me for suggesting him SHH9700. Even my EP-630 had to go through 20 hours of burn-in before the mids became clear.
For doing a burn-in, put the volume at 70-80%, play some songs or pink noise in a loop or an empty radio frequency and leave it playing for 20 hours atleast.
As for SHE8500, never got my hands on them, so no idea. But Philips does make amazing IEMs for the price you pay, might be good.

AnonD-335, 23 Apr 2011Are you sure about that mate? The panasonic one you mention... moreWell,i compared them at a shop and I observed that the panasonic rp-hv220 has a clearer audio output than philips though the bass is a bit low... I immediately googled it but couldnt find any detailed reviews of it... So I decided to go with panasonic and ended up buying them for 599/-..
The local shops even had philips she-8500(never heard of them before) and some other philips models as well but none of them stocked SHE-9700/9800 or similar models... The price of the she-8500 was just 450/-!!!...do u have more info.on this particular model?

novice, 23 Apr 2011hi.dnt buy costly earphones.they are equally damaging to ea... moreI know what you mean. Unlike our friends utk and sidewinder, I can't grab one of those philips in ears as they ain't available on the market. I have used the Wh-205 headset from a friend of mine (got free with his 5530) and in my opinion, its very uncomfortable. Its default ear buds are nightmares. And the volume wasn't very satisfying.
As for chinese ones, I had many. They are less durable but are very good in bass department and volume (level 10 of wh-205 or ep-630 is equal to level 6 in these in ears). But the mids and highs are devastating. I realised this when I started using a Sennheiser PMX-60 over the ear neckband headset. These produce way too less bass but is damn clear. Only problem is that its not at all a value for money product as it costs almost as that of philips she-9800. I got mine from a friend at a high discount.
