AnonD-542, 06 Apr 2011Yeah. I hope n97 port make things better. I am currently us... moreLet's just keep our fingers crossed in the meantime. Well I'm currently using Blaze final release. Great CFW with loads of free ram and overall better stability. So I've installed SPB shell atop of it to make it a bit more eye candy. Now completely at home using the SPB shell pack. Battery is good and shell doesn't compromise n performance though I disable it when doing heavy tasks like web browsing.

AnonD-542, 06 Apr 2011Excellent! Now why don't you put up this discovery on that ... moreok, i will introduce these things in that thread so that you can explain about it there and people will surely get interested.( Check your mail soon.)Yes, it is pre hacked. It is not an issue as all S60v5 can be hacked(except c5-03) with patched install server.
The firmware is pretty similar to C6 in homescreen and rotation effects. But i didn't face any browser crash and felt more speed in ui.

AnonD-295, 05 Apr 2011i didn't get much time to experiment on videos. Anyways the... moreExcellent! Now why don't you put up this discovery on that thread about the support of AVC files. People will get more interested. I have just downloaded the rofs2 file and really want to try it out. Just a small request to you. Can you give me the fixes and procedures of camera fix and call fix. Plus any other that might have popped recently. But only through gmail, not PM in dailymobile (don't wanna get you in trouble).
I would like to beta test it too and post my conclusions here in gsmarena (then you can discuss it with the modders of dailymobile).
Unlike C6 port, this n97 port will be more of a hit. Reason is the increased ram. And since the reason of this increased ram isn't any DM modder but nokia itself, so stability will be top notch.
Besides, once i get this into my cell, i will start doing a whole lot of experiments, like trying multiple formats and codecs with varied resolution. Compatibility with various app (eg, swype and opera mini symbian were conflicting in c6 port).
Btw, is this n97 rofs2 pre hacked? Does it have transition effects. Compared to c6, what have you felt different.

AnonD-542, 05 Apr 2011Thanks for checking it out (the videos, i mean). But i am ... moreGreat going there mates (Sb n Vx). Hmmm come to think of it why would Nokia deliberately downgrade our phone and deny us AVC support when the hardware is perfectly capable of taking on the load. Maybe it's gotta do with the price I guess. Having features on our 5233 exclusive to top end models would make a lot of n97 users feel a bit screwed. Anyway since were the one's on winning side, who am I to complain.
The only thing is having to go through the painstaking revisions and bug fixes till we get something stable and usable. I just hope that this time around we won't have to make cuts on functionality.

And yes i beta tests it. The warning was not about asking release dates. They instructed me not to share any modes or details about the project (via personal mail. )This is because recently some people started to steal our modes and acted like they made it .Even yesterday John89 deleted his camera fix files from the thread .

As for daily mobile is concerned it is a well organised forum. Lucky to have PhatTrance there. Well constructed rules are an important part of an organisation. Though it is an open forum, this makes daily mobile different and i like it. (you may know about the recent 'daily mobile -mobile9 war'.he he he ).Look at this thread in gsm arena .You will find several offensive comments. But this is not possible in daily mobile eventhough it contains thousands of threads !

One more thing ,n gage was not pre installed in n97 firmware. I installed it separately and it appeared in the games folder.
                        Thanks.

There were talks about porting omnia's video player into Nokia's S^1 FW, I guess they didn't have any success in doing that.

AnonD-295, 05 Apr 2011sorry for the late reply. I was a bit busy yesterday . Yes... moreThanks for checking it out (the videos, i mean).
But i am still not confident on your answer. The thing is that if this n97 port makes 5233 play h.264 videos than that will make a huge impact. I wonder why people aren't discussing about this. I want you to check something again. Since real player has the ability to show the codec details of a video so you just check that video of yours and see if the video codec is 'mp4v-es' or something else. Cause if it shows mp4v-es then its h.263 codec and if its something else like 'AVC' etc then it should be h.264.
The reason i am asking about this is because 523x or 5800 can't play h.264/AVC videos as they doesn't have the necessary codecs. But n97/n97mini has those codecs. As a result, one can play high def videos upto vga even in h.264 format.
I haven't downloaded that firmware yet as i heard you say a lot about the camera issues (although rectified but downlink not updated). So i will wait for the final version.
Btw, are you beta testing it? If yes then you shouldn't be warned about asking questions on the availability of the final version. This type of rules and restrictions of dailymobile is what i hate and so i don't contribute much. Sometimes in order to make sense of a comment one has to go off topic but that being against the rules, i get replies that i either open a new thread or ask the questions elsewhere. The moderators really need to chill out a bit.

                                And those videos played well.

I do not have any links for games, mate. I wil post if i find.

As for the release dates i have no idea. Even yesterday i got a warning .(hope you understand )

The firmware have some bugs so i would recommend to wait for some days before you flash. Thanks.
