Anonymous, 21 Nov 2010and now you got your nirvana(moksh) with it?Yep sort of or until I can find something better... I've been eyeing the SHE9850 but it is too much of an audiophile earphone as I came to know from expert reviews. It lacks the kind of refinement that I get from listening to my 9800. 9850 is for the pure music enthusiast. I'm no enthusiast and I prefer something that gives me much more fun.

JUSTBOUGHT5233, 21 Nov 2010thanks.....i have checked that one's reviews mate. it shows... moreMate.. ED12LP is much much better than E818LP. It is a good starter as well... In my humble opinion, for a starter philips SHE2610 gives better audio quality than E818LP. It costs only costs half as much. I think that would be the best starter without burning a hole in your pocket. The design is good as well with three pairs of additional replaceable caps. The only con about these earphones is that they tend to break easily especially the wires at the junction near the 3.5mm plug. But as long as you handle it a bit carefully, it should last you 6months easily. I've gone through 3 pairs before moving onto ED12LP. By that time you'll be just craving for an upgrade and will find excuses to do so. My journey toward headphone nirvana started with it and finally ended with my SHE9800.

brijesh, 21 Nov 2010hi, mates(utk, sbdevil & sidewinder), i want to ask u a... moreGreat.. since you're using HS-83, I don't think you'll need an upgrade as I myself think it's quite good. I'll prefer it any day over any of SE walkman earphones. But if you are looking for a bit more quality, I'd recommend you go for either philips shh9700 or she9800. What HS-83 lacks as compared to philips earphones is accuracy in audio reproduction with a not so clear bass and a bit of depth. If you can upgrade to either of those or something a bit m0re expensive, then I'd recommend you do so with confidence but for anything below that, I'd advice you to simply stick with it. It's all got to do with individual likings and preferences. Philips earphones are more about accuracy in sound reproduction. They are very well balanced with the right amount of bass and treble.

Sbdevilmind, 21 Nov 2010Hey guys (side and utk). Since you are discussing about aud... moreYeah.. I've noticed that too.. I think the volume level is programmed to incerase exponentially here rather than linearly. After volume level 8 in normal mode, increasing the volume level to 9 increases the volume level exponentially. Not like increasing the level from 4 to 5 which only increases the volume by a slight bit.
Anyway for me using my SHE9800, level 8 in earphones mode gives me almost the same volume as level 6 in lineout mode. Also tried loudness option but not working well for me. Maybe because my earphone is too sensitive anyway the music is sounding fuller and too much going on at the same time. It's ruining the feel of the song (I mostly listen to alternative rock and anything metal) and BTW I use my own custom EQ which may also play a huge role in altering the output.

Venu, 21 Nov 2010I think distortion occures if you have an amp in phone whic... moreWell mate the quality of the earphones is no concern for me as I use my Philips SHE9800 as my primary earphones. But I think the same situation can also occur if an underpowered amp is trying to power a high impedance earphone. That would mean that the amp isn't powerful enough to fully drive the earphones thereby introducing som sort of distortion. That is where the lineout optin comes into play. It boosts the power output to a level in which the earphones can be driven at a lower peak volume and thereby also minimising noise, hiss and other artifacts normally introduced at higher volume levels.
