haayy, 13 Nov 2010Seriously guys.. For all you people planning to get this... moreHi there. Its the obvious truth that nokia 5230 is better than this phone. But there is no point in doing any debate to decide which phone is better because each of these phone is meant for different end users. Its not that nokia made 5233 by mistake or maybe they ran out of 3g and gps electronic parts, lol. But if both these phones were manufactured by different companies and were priced exactly the same then 5230 is an obvious winner. People who are buying or are about to buy 5233 instead of a 5230 are not being cheated or something by nokia cause they are getting to pay far less money. Although its true that your comment hold ground for people who go on a blind buying spree. Looking at the numbering, anyone can be fooled. Your comment will also be true for people who has the necessary money to get hold of a 5230 but are planning to get a 5233 as they don't know that 5230 actually exists.
And another thing, don't you ever think that you being a 5230 user don't have the right to ask questions here. We are always ready to help no matter what mobile you have (although it should be symbian). So, feel free to ask anything if you encounter any problems in your 5230. Anyways, happy exploring with your device. See ya.....

      2) gps(often fails to work)
#5233 supports ovi maps, google maps(always work)
      3) priced at 7500 INR, 1200INR more than 5233
#5233 is priced at 6300 INR. you can buy philips she9800 in that extra money.

There's no software problems regarding 5230.

Maybe those facing with software problem didn't upgrade their firmware.

Regarding the cfw, there's so many sites out there that offer cfw tutorials.

Just like what sb said, research.

Whatever customization or cfw you can use at your 5233, can also be used at 5230.

All I'm saying is, 5230 is much better than this 5233.

We don't have to argue anymore because that's the truth.

I just want to lead people on the right way..

And the right way and the most practical way is go for Nokia 5230 than having this 5233.

        That's all..

haayy, 13 Nov 2010Seriously guys.. For all you people planning to get this... morenot at all. all the people out there who want to buy this phone just go for it. nokia dealers are suggesting not to buy 5230 as it has many software related problems whereas 5233 is highly recommended. btw, you are the one to decide. 3 months ago i was also like you people who was thinking to buy a smartphone & was confused between 5233 & 5230. don't just take my word, go through the posts of both 5233 & 5230 forum. 5230 users are facing many problems whereas 5233 users are happily busy explring the numerous possibilities of this cute smart lady.

                  Seriously guys..

For all you people planning to get this phone, buy Nokia 5230 instead...

It has 3g which is really awesome.. The signal is much better in 5230 than this 5233. (obviously)

And 5230 has free gps! Oh man! i just type the location where i want to go and it shows me the way..

It also has voice guidance on maps!

5233 ain't got that and it's just not cool.

Don't settle for the second best...

So you guys better get 5230.

Sbdevilmind, 13 Nov 2010Sorry for the late reply. Some guys were pulling our legs s... moreWhoaa.... now that's a big essay :-D. I'm pretty sure Mr.PBx (not you sidewinder) won't be too happy to see that :-P.

On Topic: I second everything SB has said in his post. We cannot teach you how to flash. We can only guide you and there is a big difference between the two. There are tons of guides available throughout the internet explaining every single details about both 'flashing' and the 'software tools' required for flashing.

I started flashing with "Phoenix service software". I knew if something goes wrong then I have to find a way out of it on my own (I didn't have the privilege of having someone to ask doubts to). I didn't just go through the flashing guides, I have also gone through the flashing software's manual. I was however a lot gutsier that SB, I did flash my phone after just 3 days of starting my research. Although the main reason for it was that my phone(Nokia 5130XM) was already corrupted and I was too lazy to make a trip to Nokia care :-P.

Now I do have to admit that so far nothing has gone wrong during flashing process, ever. I did brick my phone twice while experimenting on finding ways to downgrade firmware. One was within warranty period so Nokia care fixed it up for free. 2nd time I had to pay around $4 servicing charges.

                    For first timers.

Yeah, I know you guys are excited about custom firmwares and all and want to jump into the bandwagon asap. I also see some of you guys are eager to flash into CFWs without even understanding the basic flashing procedure. Flashing with CFW is a bit different than the original process(ie upgrading your firmware).

To understand the process better, I suggest you to flash your phone with the same original firmware version. And don't follow the flashing procedure given for CFWs(it's like dead phone flashing), follow the original upgrade process.
Starting with "Phoenix service software" is always better, I feel you learn a lot more with 'Phoenix' than with 'JAF'.
However... you do need JAF to flash with CFW.

                    Steps to follow
                    1) Go through different flashing guides, understand them thoroughly.
                    2) Download all the required tools and firmwares(read 'readme.txt' if any).
                    3) NEVER DOWNGRADE, very important. If you do this.. then understand that there is nothing you can do to revive you phone.
                    4) Have any doubts, ask someone in mobile forums(although I doubt anyone would help you there) or here.
                    5) Follow step 1... keep the guide running in background, follow the given step by step procedure and flash your device.

Sorry for the late reply. Some guys were pulling our legs so for those hear this, no one can do flashing without having guidence from some place or other. I too had to follow guides to do the flashing but that doesn't meant that i didn't know what i was doing. Some people here just come and ask about flashing and after getting the steps, flash their phones. If lucky, the flashing might be successful but if something happens during the procedure and the guide had nothing written about it then the person is lost. Neither can he cancel the process resulting in dead phones nor can he continue as he has no knowledge about how things work. Before i did my first flashing, i followed each and every guide available on the popular forums on web, just to make sure i didn't miss a thing. And after one month or so i finally had the guts to flash. This was when i had my nokia 5130 about a year ago. And there was one person who personally voluntered and guided me further by giving me instructions through gmail. Its UTK here. And i am still grateful for his help. So my point is, first you guys who want to flash get the knowledge from web then we will provide the minor details or instructions that will help solve your confusions. Rahul here already said that he wanted to follow some guides on the web first and then think about flashing. This is a better idea. As he will know much more than what he would have if we gave a short guide on flashing. Trying to figure out things on ones own gives you the opportunity to discover new things. And these new informations give you a unique knowledge about that subject hence giving you unique ways of flashing (in this case). And please don't call us experts. We are just newbies, like you all, who are sharing our discoveries with you guys. Still we take every effort to provide perfect suggestions. So, when rahul here says that he is ready for flashing, we will help him get through the process, hence giving him the confidence to continue as we will be backing him up from here.

BE ORIGINAL,BE SAFE. BE EXPERT,DO FLASHING.
