Yes dear... You can of course back up your data using either Nokia PC suite or Nokia OVI suite... I always use Nokia PC suite because it's the most familiar thing to me and it's very safe too...
There's a 'back up' option in File Manager as well... But it's in the phone and not that reliable... (Because your back up will be saved in your memory card...) But I strongly recommend you to do a back up using your PC suite and save that in to your Computer... (Not to the memory card...)
And remember to select only the things you want... Otherwise it'll take hell of a time...
What I do is, I back up only contacts, Notes & calendar entries using the PC suite back up feature... The SMS I always use the PC suite's SMS viewer and select only what i want and use the 'Export' feature to save them in a spread sheet like file... (As I remember the extension is CSV... There you can save all your SMS in to a one single file...)
If you're going to back up hundreds of SMS, it'll take a long time...
One more thing... Don't back up 'Settings' because you want to back up your data because you're going to soft/hard reset your mobile... In that case you wouldn't want to keep some erroneous settings in your system again...

For hard reset the code is *#7370#
This will solve your problem. I think you haven't updated your firmware, i had a similar problem back when i was in v11. Do a hard reset then update the firmare, for this press *#0000# or goto software update application. Prefer updating via phone coz last time i tried updating with nokia software updater the phone didn't turn on at all and i had to get it replaced.

nice looking but it's the most stupid phone I ever had! I will never agian buy a nokia... it's not stable, it's slow, but worst think - it's stupid!

The four shortcut icon... moreYou've got the same error as me, I think, I just returned mine to the carphone warehouse and they've submitted it for repair, I contacted Nokia and they told me to return it, seems like it's some major bug which Nokia don't know much about. I think it may be down to a virus or a bug from some software, I experienced this from downloading apps from places other than the Ovi store which I feel may be down to it

xplit, 15 Feb 2010Can someone help me on this problem? The four shortcut icon... more@ xplit. Ur fone has been corrupted by a virus...via bluetooth perhaps. I guess all ur msgs wld have disappeared as well. Get the software reinstalled from the Nokia care centers...shd be fine...

OK... After the firmware upgrade, I've got about 80 MB left free memory (phone memory).

It seems like a good phone but i'm not paying over 200us for something with a back cover that doesn't fit well and a stylus that looks like it's part of a childrens toy.
