Dear Jean,
Thanks for your faith in me... (for asking about 5530)
Actually about the battery life of my phone I've already commented in this very forum several times... But for your ease I'm gonna repeat it again...
1) 2 hours of talk
2) 4 hours of Music (Through ear buds)
3) 6 hours connected to wifi (But not using it through out all 6 hours)
4) more than 30 SMS (Sent only...)
with above usage my battery lasts for 1 and 1/2 days...
And I checked without the first (2 hours of talk) and 3rd (wifi), it lasted for full 3 and 1/2 days...
(Note: I've reduced my display brightness to a very low value...)

5530's battery doesnt last.. it drains easy when using camera, wifi.. compare to sony erricson..

Cyber-shot under dog, 03 Jan 2010Well it depends really, my battery lasted about for 3 hours... morewell if you want to take pics wit low light exposure and without noise change the nitidez(spanish is maybe sharpness in english mine is spanish) to soft before take a pic and it will be better,or change the iso'' I know that xenon flash is the best but lately ericsson has dissynchronized the flash with shutter and is not working well in c 905 c903 k 850, before in k790 and k800 flash xenon was impressive but not today,maybe the stop selling 12 mpixels cameras, cause that good camera phones, now I take good pics with 3,2 mpix in nokia you must know and see ;)

... moresorry for my poor english, seems you speak very clear, well about the appls I mentioned before as movitubia, opera beta 10, smartgallery,paint pad, those appls are freeware or at least you can download from a page called.. www.mobile9.com if you feel guilty without donating some money shows your kind of conciousness and the quality people you are (hope I express myself well) good for you, well I dont think companies think about consumers before money after sell something, but from countru to country things change minds too, but seems you are an exelent person.
by other hand you can watch the movies searching typing for ''peliculas completas el rey del barrio"" at you tube,yeah that movie is old 1943 was made.
well for the man that said that sony ericsson has better sound in media player thats not truth cause 5530 sounds clear stereo, and with earphones sounds sharp and loud,ericssons earbuds look nicer and well made but express music sound 66% better.wifi is exelent,screen is clear and in the sun blurry, battery life for me last 2 days, has a restart every 2 weeks, cause my firmware is 10.0.050,211 rm 504 (old) I dont find new software cause the branded phone company doesnt let me, but for the price is the best phone I had, almost feel like n97,, take care my friend

Hey...I read somewhere that if I download firmware (NokiaSoftwareUpdater?) that I will be able to have GPS (garmin possibly??) on this phone (Nokia 5530XM).
Is this true?

sean, 03 Jan 2010anyone, how to update firmware through phone??to update the software through phone press *#0000# . you will get the firmware version installed currently installed on your phone. at the bottom you will see OPTIONS select that there u will get the option to update your phone firmware.

You seem to be the best person to ask questions about the 5530 about..hahaha...
I've almost made up my mind to buy the 5530 after weeks of researching and comparing it to my other option, the 5800. But after reading so many comments about short battery life, I just want to ask since you said you're a heavy user...how long does the battery last you? Some reviews said it last them a good 2.5-3 days or maybe they were just given a better evaluation unit(?)...ahaha..

well i will want to tell you that the battery is really bum bum and i will congratulate the nokia phone company that they have really bring out the best in the company so get the faith and buy the phone for you will never regret of using it at all....see yaa!!!from Ghana..and this phone was given to me by my wife ilona....which i really love her so much...

I have this phone, at first I got some errors and reboots, but since I upgraded the firmware, it seems ok and I love this very much.
To upgrade the software you just need to connect it to the computer via USB cable and install nokia software updater, you need an internet connection on the computer tough.
The only bad thing I experiencing now is that I can't connect to the wireless lan.
I've googled in some blogs and forums said that disabling automatic setting and disabling power saving would help, but it didn't work at all on my phone.
Anyone experiencing this problem too? What should I do to solve this problem?

hi guys, i want to buy 5530 but i worry about some issues mintioned tht it suffers from auto restart and lagging, also its video recording, and dat u need to update firmware (even i dont know how to do that), plz help me coz i am gonna buy it soon.thnx.
