        Rizwan, 19 Aug 2009I dont think 5530 will do well as samsung star did in market..Samsung Star did well mainly because of the price and looks (subjective). It has slightly bigger 3" screen. Its got a good camera (but without autofocus and no flash). People who are looking for smartphones will not go for Samsung Star.

            Anil, 20 Aug 2009Hey u r rite u should return 5800 & get 5530...Whats the me... more5530 should cost less than 5800

            I blv it should b in 12.5k ...i will give u reason y ..?

            * Small Screen 2.9" compared to 5800 3.2"
            * Single Led flash compare to 5800 2 Led Flash + 5530 has no Carl Zeiss optics.
            * No 3g & GPS
            * Just 2 Speakers
            * - Proximity sensor for auto turn-off it not there but gsm arena has told it there.
            * Just 4Gb card in plc of 8Gb as in 5800
            * The CPU is same for both of the phone now..SO this show tht it software thing & can b clocked if wanted..so no cost of Hardware thing needed.

            & still few more reasons 2 cost less

                              I realy need to know about the touchscreen responds on 5530 (or 5800), how is it compare to the ones on SE, Samsung, LG? Are they of the same quality? If not how do they differ? If nokia's are worse, how worse and is it compromisible? FYI i'm currently using SE G900 and am very interested in 5530.

                              Thanx a lot..

                                SuperSonic, 19 Aug 2009Hey guys, am back :D Well, I've been using the phone for... more Wow, that's a great review. To tell you the truth, the only think i will miss on my 5800 is kinetic scrolling, especially in the music player which i use allot.

                                Btw, can you please share the 5530 themes with us ? The files are located inside the z:\private\10207114\import and z:\resource\skins folders , so if you can copy them and upload them somewhere, i (and many others i am sure) would be very grateful.

                                  Anil, 19 Aug 2009@Supersonic..... buddy its already three days and we are w... moreHey guys, am back :D

                                  Well, I've been using the phone for 4 days now, and all i can say is that it's a wonderful phone. I had the 5800 before and changed it with the 5530. As i said before, it's more robust, size is excellent, although the screen is a bit smaller but the text for the menus is adjusted so -in some menus, like the Connectivity in the Settings- it can display more items, and in worst cases it will display the same items the 5800 displays (i mean when opening All Songs in the Music Player, 9 items are displayed in the 5800 as well as the 5530). And a good plus for the 5530, because the screen size is a bit smaller, you can reach every corner without adjusting your hand (like when writing a message in the alphanumeric keypad, and you are done writing the message, you have to tap the green tick button located in the top left, i found it annoying to reach it with my thumb in the 5800 until i got used to it, but in the 5530 you will never find it far from your thumb).

                                  Battery life is good. I really cannot give a %100 review about it because sometimes i lower the screen brightness, sometimes i use WAP connection, listen to music from time to time... So i'll leave this for you but am sure it will do a good job.

                                  Music quality is EXACTLY the same as the 5800 through headphones, i tested the same song with the same equalizer settings and the same headphones and the output was identical. Through phone speakers there was a little difference, as the 5800's speakers are located on one left side of the phone, it will generate a bit louder volume, whereas the 5530 speaker's are located as follows; 2 in the top (each one is almost half size of the 5800's, so it means 1 full size of the 5800's on the top), and 2 in the bottom (again it equals to 1 full size of the 5800's), and because they are not on the same side, volume will be heard a little bit lower than the 5800, but actually i don't find it a problem at all as i use the phone to listen to music through my headphones. The earphones included in the box have a good quality i guess, but i don't like this kind of earpiece :p

                                  The pen included is -in my opinion- better than the one in the 5800 (although it looks cheaper), but it has a sharper tip that allows u -for example- to click links in web pages better. (don' worry, it's not sharp enough to scratch the screen)

                                  Camera quality is good, i took the same picture for a meter away person under a bit low light conditions using both phones, in my opinion, the picture taken in the 5530 looks more real, as the dual LED flash in the 5800 made it brighter to the limit that the details are gone because of the flash, in the 5530, the picture was in a good brightness level and it was closer to be real. Video recording is for sure in a resolution of 640x480 @ 30fps. Pictures taken in the sun (or good light conditions) are almost the same as the ones taken in the 5800.

                                  As there's no physical Green (call), White (menu) and Red (end) buttons, you need some time to get used to the new touch Green, white and Red keys.

                                  The Media Key (located in the top right of the touch screen which brings up multimedia when tapped) is not lit up! I don't know if it has a light underneath the cover, but if it does, it will be lit up for sure in the next firmware.

                                  DO NOT panic if you shake the phone lightly close to your ear and you hear a very little crack sound, it's the slide lock key located in the right side of the phone. I tested 5 other new phones and they were all the same (although this issue is not there in the 5800, but it's not a big deal at all)

                                  Kinetic scrolling is really useful. I've never imagined that i would use it, but yes, when i open the Artists menu in the music player, i just slide my thumb a bit fast upwards and i reach the last artists in the menu, and if you tap anywhere on the screen in the middle of the scrolling process, it will just stop there. Actually kinetic scrolling is available in all menus that have vertical items (like Contacts and Music Player). And if you open -let's say- The Setting menu which it has only 5 vertical items (so you don't need to scroll), you still can push your thumb down and the items sink down the screen then they go up again with a nice bumpy effect.

                                  The Home Screen is a BEAUTY! with 20 contacts, you will never open your phonebook again (just kidding :p). When you click on a contact, it's displayed alone in a new screen with Call, Send Message, Web Feeds and Settings options, and under that you will see details about any messages sent or received, any calls made and any web feed updates. Navigating through the 20 contacts is not hard at all unless if you are in a bad mood you will end up clicking on a contact instead of sliding between them (that's because you are stressed :p). Under the contacts bar you will find the e-mail notification (if you setup an e-mail account), i personally removed that item because i don't want my e-mails to be displayed there. Under that, if you are playing a song, it will be displayed there with the time of the song, previous, play/pause and next buttons, and if the song has an album art it will be displayed in a cool transparent way under the previous button, you cannot use the previous and the next buttons to rewind or fast-forward the current song, but i think this will be taken into consideration in the next firmwares. Also, there's no key to take you back to the music player, you either press hold the menu key and you tap Music Player, or you just tap menu then Music then Music Player, or you tap the Multimedia key and choose Music Player. Under the Music Player plug-in in the home screen you will find the 4 shortcuts you define, i personally use an application called Smart Settings, and i put it as 1 of the 4 shortcuts, when clicking this application, it will take me to a menu with a number of any other applications i frequently use and which are sorted vertically with their icons. So 4 shortcuts on the home screen is much more tidy than let's say 6 or 8 originally put by Nokia, and by the way 4 are more accessible (i mean if you have 8 shortcuts sorted horizontally, it will be almost impossible to tap the one you need :p). Under the shortcut bar you will the Telephone button (dialer) and the Contacts button. And by the way you can setup the home screen just like the 5800, so you either display the Contacts Bar or the Shortcut Bar with the two little buttons (dialer and contacts) down the screen.

                                  The Screen brightness now is no longer 5 or 6 levels only (i cannot remember how much it was in the 5800), it's 30 levels now. When choosing the Font size to be small, all vertical items and menus become small, and the main menu items are displayed in a normal size WITH names under them, that was a big miss in the 5800, as if you set the Font size to small, the main menu items are displayed WITHOUT names under them.

                                  The phone now has 5 pre-installed themes, and they all are cool. Theme Effects work fine and smooth, it only lags a bit if you are in the main menu and you tap the menu key, the "door close" effect that takes you to the home screen lags a little, and it's a matter of a firmware. Sometimes you feel like you didn't tap the item, but it responds in a laggy way afterward (like if you are in the music player, you choose any song and you tap Options, then when tapping Song details it responds in a laggy way), again, all these lags will be fixed in the upcoming firmware just like we noticed how speedy the 5800 became after some few firmware upgrades.

                                  I recall something stupid in version 30 of the 5800, they added a feature which when you tap on the screen while playing a song in the music player, the volume bar pops up on the right side, well, i struggled to repeat the last 30 seconds of the song when it's about to end by tapping the progress bar as the volume bar pops up AND COVERS the last part of the progress bar! Well, although the volume bar pop up feature is already included in the 5530, i NEVER struggled to repeat the last 30 seconds as tapping on the progress bar now is more accurate.

                                  I think i wrote a newspaper about the phone :p well, i don't mind writing books about its features as long as some people here want that, and am really glad to help people to know more about the phone as still a few people have it. And if you guys need anything else am ready to write again :)

                                  See you.

                                      Bruno, 19 Aug 2009This phone will outsell 5800. There is a big demand for 200... moreIt will be very popular but no way will it outsell 5800. The 5800 has been one of the most popular nokia phones ever and it's price is considerably coming down so people in european markets would yet go for 5800 because of 3G.

                                      In poorer markets and 3rd world countires like india 5530 will definitely be very popular but the 5800 is also insanely popular here.

                                        Nokia should make this available on T-Mobile US as pre-paid device... I so hope this will replace an obsolete duo 5310/5610 and will be available on pre-paid basis.
