If i'm not mistaken, N85 will cost about 28800rs. That's pretty much value for money with so many features. I remember when E90 was launched, it's price was around 38000rs. Mine birthday is on 13th january so dad has given me two choices as birthday gift- either a quad core pc by zenith or N85. I'm still confused what to buy. If N85 or N96 prices drop down to around 20000rs by that time, sure i will buy either, otherwise i will buy a new pc.

Cactus, 30 Aug 2008Well, I'm sorry to inform you that the guys over at Mobile ... morei don't think you got it right. n96 & n85 have different processors. n96 uses the new Nomadics STn8815 dual core processor running at 264mhz, whilst n85 uses the same single chip processor of n78, n81, Freescale ARM9 at 369mhz clock rate. n95 & n82 use the omap 2420 dual processor though. n96 and n85 have same audio quality, better than n78, n82 and n95, but below than n81. the new Nomadics 264mhz chipset of n96 gives better sound quality, better video processing algorithms and lower power consumption. so you need not worry about n96 having only 950mah of battery capacity. its new processor is better than TIOMAP processor of n95 & n82 in many accounts especially in minimal power consumption so n96's battery life can last even longer than n95 & n82. the only downside is the lack of 3d graphics accelerator but it's no big deal at all. i hope i you get that right now..

Cactus, 30 Aug 2008Well, I'm sorry to inform you that the guys over at Mobile ... morewow thats alot of phone...
i also have an old 6600 for 4yrs, i already given it to my brother...nwei,
when i say that people nowadays will not keep a phone for 2 yrs, i speak of average people(here in the Philippines). for us pilipinos keeping several phones is very impractical. some keep at most 3 phone and that is because here we only have 3 phone network company.. also regarding the 5yrs life time, that is actually the lit time. means when you are not using your phone the screen will fade to black and will not consume its life...

Well, I'm sorry to inform you that the guys over at Mobile Review have already reviewed the N85 prototype, which is indicative to the final version, and the N85's technical specifications include a STMicroelectronics Nomadik ARM 9 264MHz dual CPU, with a 24-bit DSP chip for sound making it in line with the N96. Over at Smape.com, the guys mentioned that this DSP chip gives good sound quality but is inferior to N81 which uses a different audio chip - Toshiba DAC33. N85 is identical to N96, hardware-wise.
As for what you have said that no one keeps a phone for more than two years - well, I have a N80 which is already 2 years old; N70, 2.5 years old; 6630, 3.5 years old; 6600, 4 years old, and I still have them all up to now. I'm using my N95 8GB as my main phone and 5700 as my backup phone. I also have a N81 8GB but I'm not using it often. So, 5 years lifetime is so short for an AMOLED display. These phones can last for more than 5 years when properly used and given good conditioning but imagine if the display will eventually worn out in a definite period of time. So I'm going to pass on N85. TFT LCD is still better. My next phone will be N96. I hope I can get that early next year.

Cactus, 30 Aug 2008N78 maybe an all-in-one device but its performance is only ... moreas for as the cons of n85 that you mentioned,
IMO no one today will own a phone for more than two years(or even one year) so the life time of the screen is not really a con to bother anyone. as for the sounds, AFAIK we cannot really compare it for now since its not yet been released and also remember this line as i always see this on nokia's site..
"specs may be subjected to changes without prior notice", hehehe!! something like that. i hope i got that correct...
                              remember, its just my opinion..

N78 maybe an all-in-one device but its performance is only average and it does not specialize on something. The camera is 3.2MP Carl Zeiss optics but its lens is smaller than that of N73's camera lens. It has dual speakers but the sound is so soft and somewhat "MONO". FM transmitter is a good thing but it's signal is very weak. You have to be 2 meters near the receiver. The keypad takes some time getting used to but the soft keys, call/end keys, menu/cancel keys have a mind of their own. Sometimes they act like touch sensitive, sometimes they are not responsive.
N81 8GB is currently Nokia's best music phone. It comes with dedicated music keys. The sound quality is top notch, only N91 beats it in sound quality. It's also better in gaming because of landscape mode and gaming buttons. The disadvantages are its lack of HSDPA, GPS, and good camera.
N82 is good in almost everything. But it depends on how it will suit your needs. It's mainly a camera phone so don't expect too much in music terms.
N85 is the ultimate phone but it also has its cons. The lifetime of the AMOLED display is around 5 years only. It has a good sound quality but still it's below par with N81 8GB. N85 doesn't have the audio chip of N81. It's a different audio chip used in N85. So, N81 8GB is still better in sound quality than N85. But you can forget about it knowing that N85 has everything you'll ever want in a phone.
N79 is mainly an upgraded version of N78. The camera and RAM are upgraded but the CPU is still the same single chip Freescale ARM11 369MHz processor same as 5700, N81 8GB, N78.
