Does the handset come with software to convert .avi amd mpegs to 3GP? and if so, what is the quality like?

- The interface is ugly...
- ...and unresponsive,
- the sound is crap (speaker and jack)
- it doesn't ven offer a 3,55mm jack
- proprietary connector,
- the web browser crash all the time and doesn't support lot of things,
- the OS is proprietary,
- you can't install new applications, it's not even a smartphone !
- etc..
The 5800 blows it up, and even more with the OVI Store launch (Nokia's Application Store) in june '09 :-D
The only strengh of the 480 is the camera, but the number of megapixels isn't everything, and those two phone have a low camera anyway.

ammm... i want 2 buy nokia5800 since my all frndz are suggesting 2 buy it,i was having 5610 earlier which i sold last night..and now i want sme new one...can any one of u plz help me 2 suggest.???
do i buy this phone or not??

Nokia 5800xm is a nice phone...I can say this because I am using it since Jan'09...
I had no problems with it. It has everything I was looking for in a phone. No real Hardware or software issue with my unit so far. Only rarely screen rotation doesnt work as desired & is not as responsive as other capacitive touch screen phones like Iphone.....But that doesnt mean its bad either..considering its resistive screen touch response is good....Its body is made of plastice so for some peoples it can be a negative but it still feels ok not that bad....It has got lots of featurs...but its a music centric phone....so its a real good muzic phone with excellent musical performance.....the rest featurs are bonus.
But please make your choice based on what you are looking for in your phone & if 5800 has what you are looking for then it can be good choice.
I have given you sincere feedback of phone...hope it will help you.

Goto Menu -> Settings -> Application Manager
-> Installed Apps. -> select the application which you want to uninstall -> Options -> Uninstall.

my all friend i am working in mobile company. i think 5800 is not best mobile.bec if i talk about my experience so its touch screen not good and camera also. if you are looking good touch screen mobile.i think you have to buy samsung f-480. that is good one. there is 5megapixel camera. touch screen very good when you operate f-480 so you enjoy yourself. f-480 is cheapest as nokia 5800. f-480 has mobile tracker feature so if you lost your mobile so easily you get it again.

jon, 04 May 2009hello, i still have problem watching movies on this phone.... moreGeneral system error to me means removing memory card,,Quick press on power button--Scroll to remove memory card..Then switch fone on and off then re-insert memory card..Its a pain general system error cause i got it lots when i took my 16gbhc card out of xperia and put it in samsung innov8,,what was happening is data and incompatible apps left on from xperia was causing it and had to take all data off memory card then re-format card and replace suitable data back on card..Themes also cause genearal system error plus exiting music,,vids or photos then quickly going back into the music,vids etc causes it..I suppose lots of things cause it its symbian getting confused,,doesnt know what to do so puts up error message..

Man of Phones, 05 May 2009I hate boat or coffin-shaped Nokia Phones very much. Why No... morethe look of the phone does matter up to a certain extent but looks are not everything of a phone. the 5800 is far better than most of the fancy looking phones including the apple iphone. most people find it hard to use the fancy shaped phones. speaking of which, the ones who buy a certain phone for an actual purpose, to use day to day, the ones who actually use the functions and facilities of the phone.

Please help. When I downloaded Nokia Sports Tracker (from official Nokia Web Page.) At end of download message comes up "Certificate Expired" and download stops. If you cannot down load Nokia Sports Tracker, to 5800 why is the phone listed for download?? Anyone else had this problem??

does it matter where the phoneis made? the one in this site says MADE IN HUNGARY.. i asked the person in ebay where the phone was made and he said its MADE IN CHINA..
