the plectrum is only in black even though you would buy either blue or red.....quite disappointing..i thought it comes with red and blue plectrum that matches the phone color

Human live with at least 5 sense so don't just use one of them by only hearing..
Seek and see the truth by many reviews and comments outthere, then u'll revealed why this 5800XM superior in many ways compared to pricier or even double-priced thing like iPhone in especially its function, just like this site rate for these 2 cell..

Or calculate the correct trajectories for a snipers rifle, watch video surveillance from a drone, control a bomb disarming robot like the US army does with iPhones/iPod touches.

You can access an Oracle database, trade shares and access your Internet banking.

The iPhone does multitask for native applications, maybe you should get your facts right.

It sold 3.79 million over the last 3 months the 5800 sold 2.8 million since November.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2009Cursed as XpressMusic ??? The way it stands now...XM-serie... more^^ No,no.. that 'cursed' words just a typo to bold the nature why this awesome cell with it's great functionality, looks, n price afterall, not labelled as N series at least while almost all of the feature was comparable or sometimes even overrated compared to some of those N series line..

Guess it was forged as XM series to keep it in mainstream line in pricing image compared to high end line of N series, n for exposing it to fight the iPod or iPhone line in media playing especially the 'music' itself.
Whatever the strategy of product naming by Nokia, this 'cursed' 5800XM just done it's job very well..

The way it stands now...XM-series is producing some the finest models in the nokia lineup...

5800XM...nokia's 1st touch screen and gr8 audio quality(best audio quality in any mobile phone at the time of its launce)...and not an N-series...

5310XM...sold over 13 million sets worldwide makes it one of the best selling music phone...also its still one of the best slim mobile

The 5800XM's audio quality was eventually surpassed by SE W995...

                      and here is nokia's response
5130XM...it has the best audio quality of any nokia phone to date...yes better than 5800XM and W995
5130XM has audio quality that match the latest apple ipod touch...all this for a mere 90 euros...

Guys, I have installed loads applications and would like to share some "must haves" ones with you:

Opera Mini: Obviously a must have for all phones.

Google maps: You will simply love it on this wide screen.

Marble Maze: Superb accellerometer controls, you will get hooked on to this game

Photo browser: Much faster and better graphics than the Gallery.

                        Symtorrent: haven't tried it yet.

                        Handwriting calculator: Cool.

Paint pad: Better than "Mobile paint" software.

                        X-plore: No need to xplain.

Facewarp: Edits closeup photos to make them look funny.

Joikuspot: converts your 5800 into a wifi hotspot.

                        Gmail client: showing an error.

                        Youtube client: working fine.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2009You haven't really been keeping up with things, have you? ... moreAnd by the way... There is nothing on that web page that a symbian enabled phone cannot do. I have 3 Java dictionaries on my phone, one of which on my SE that hold a huge amount of information. I use them constantly for translating purposes. The 5800 may not be the most capable Symbian smartphone, but then again, neither was Series 60 8.0 back in the day.

This is just another masterpiece of Nokia..
fully loaded of functionality and potential, but just damn well priced..!
that's why in just about 6 months since it launch it sells 2,8 millions!

See that poorly-armed but unashamely-overpriced iPhone 3G toy, that's just a toy-phone for those who retard enough to see things only by it looks n bucks..
don't get any idea why did Apple not die yet with that public-fooling works..sigh..

For those who curious enough why did Nokia sell this rig with such a nice price, its the proccessor ARM11 369Mhz that truly not enough to handle such a highest-res touchscreen cell ever had till that time before, that explains why this rig didn't named as n-gage series, lacks of hi quality material n optimal preloaded multimedia function so didn't labeled as N-series, & no preloaded office application then didn't lined as E-series..
But it's just enough to play music greatly to fight iPod but targeted to compete the iPhone onward on pricing, so it cursed as XpressMusic..
But then it results to great benefit for us who really know what rig we buy with the awesome price-performance it have..

Enough judging, for those who want to optimize their lovely 5800XM, just go to the forums where's the traffic of this rig's apps, games, n solutions run fast..!
Here some forums should be visit:

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2009You haven't really been keeping up with things, have you? ... moreI didn't say they are written in Java, I said that most of them have java counterparts. There's a big difference in that. Basically a java enabled Sony Ericsson can do most of the things that an Iphone can be triked out to do by means of the AppStore. And I know because my secondary phone is the SE K320. You would be amazed with the amount of applications that this very basic phone can run. And I forgot to mention that the Iphone is not a smartphone mainly because it lacks multitasking. So if you can turn a blind eye to the fact that it doesn't have the same software backup as symbian and still think of it as a smartphone OS, it would be like comparing MS DOS with Windows... I was actually considering buying an Iphone because they cost about as much as the 5800 on a contract (the only way to go for me), but after watching some app reviews on the net I came to realize that most of the Iphone's apps are games. What I don't understand is how can someone say that the Iphone has the greatest app library of any smartphone! By simply considering Java applications that a symbian can run (especially Java games) I don't see how Apple can get away with that obvious lie. I don't want to offend any Iphone users. If anything, I only wish you the best of luck considering you jumped abord on a relatively new platform right away; something I cannot do. However, the Iphone is stil a long way away from symbian as far as application flexibility goes. What Nokia and Symbian in general is lacking is a single place to get all the applications one needs. I am not bothered by that and actually think this is a good thing; this way only those who realise what this platform is capable of will exploit it. The rest will still say that symbian isn't as attractive as the Iphone's UI and should most probably do as their hearts desire...
