therock, 16 Jul 2011nokia can't roll out firmware updates all at once due to di... moreTrue, but we can't ignore the fact that Nokia sometimes is just slow. Take N8 and symbian Anna case for example. N8 is (or rather was) their flagship device. It deserves more attention, yet we see that phones like E6 and X7 have Anna already while they haven't released Anna for N8. I'm not saying that because of this, E6 or X7 shouldn't have Anna pre-installed. No, I'm saying they should be more careful with this kinda decisions. One could argue the reason for they releasing new phones with Anna and not updating their previous ones is a thechnical move to encourage people to buy their new devices. While I won't completely disagree with this, but I could be true. I think Nokia is also slow at accepting new ideas. But they made (are making) a big move in parternship with microsoft. We must sit and see what becomes of our beloved 5800's manufacturer.
best of wishes for them and also for us

The firmware varies in region. Some region may take a while to release firmware updates, while some region may not release one at all.

The latest firmware will be release to ALL 5800's. Just be patient and wait.

Try some alternative way for updating (use NSU for example) see if it works.

vicky, 16 Jul 2011i try to update firmware, but is show msg there is no updat... moreHi, this a one of the things I hate about Nokia. They don't roll the update for all the product codes at once. There is also a possible chance that your carrier is at blame cause they simply too lazy to release the updates (considering you have a locked phone.) Anyway, if your phone isn't locked, there is a way to update it but you must do it manually. Search something like 'updating 5800 with jaf' or 'updating 5800 via phoenix' and you'll find lots of guides to do it easily. I have done this myself lots of times and at the last time even cooked my own firmware. My device was unlocked and it was stock at version 50. I don't know whether this method works with locked phones or not. I HIGHLY suggest using google. He's your best friend.

after almost three years at top with the most hits at over 15 million our beloved 5800XM is about to be overtaken by the N8. wwwaaa! i just love my 5800. 2years of service and still going strong. everyone i know has 1 or 2 new phones since i bought mine. I would love to get the N9 or N8 but both are too expensive. will just have to get me an android :-( probably the Huawei Ideos X5.

smack, 14 Jul 2011This is the best phone in nokia as far as it is,cost to val... moreHi, I have some recomendations up my sleeve. ;)

If you like symbian, I highly suggest N8. But it may be a little too expensive, but don't worry, there is also C7 which is cheaper and has lots of kool features of N8. There is also C6-01 which is the cheapest of all symbian^3. There is also E7 which is too expensive and has a full QWERT keaboard. And newly released X7.

Alternatively you could wait for N9, but it will feature Meego as OS, and should be costly.

If you want a change of OS, I recommend Android. If you are on a budget, I'd say take a look at these phones: Samsung Galaxy S, Xperia X10, HTC Desire and it varients. These are one year old phones which are good. I thing Xperia X10 is the cheapest among them.

Now if you want to buy something new and powerful, you should really consider Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation. These two has dual core CPUes.

                                Well, hope it's been helpful.

Since the set is fully touch pad,
                                  then how about test messaging.

I din't think without qwerty full keyboard
                                  its quite difficult for

                                  SMS operation,
                                  phone book entry,
scrolling up and down left and right is problem without key.

                                    Fair touch screen sensitivity

great music player and web browser

camera is good but auto focus can be annoying due to most of the times you can't rely on automatic mode for bad focusing that will lead to blurred image.

battery life is fair design is good..

                                    all in all 7.5 rating
