i bought 5800 xpress music few days back and after using it i can say that it is not an iphone killer for sure. the feel of the handset is quite cheap and the camera is the most worst 3.2 mp i have ever seen. iphone's 2mp is much better than 5800 camera. music wise its a decent performer, music through loudspeakers is loud but not as loud as 6233. the haptic feed back is good but not fun. 6 out of 10.

jay, 09 Dec 2008yeah thanks for that link the typing seems alright It doesn... moreWell Jay I have the Iphone 3g, and i had the ipod touch beforre the iphone 3g. I love the iphone, the touch screen is good, the ipod functions are the best, I like the interface very much. The reason why I've gone back to Nokia ( I had the Nokia N95 8gb b4 the iphone) is because I didn't realise that I'd mix txt forwarding, cut n paste and MMS messages as much as I am. The iphone lacks this, and all though i knew this b4 buying it, i plainly didn't realise i'd miss the basic functions of a mobile phone.

As for the iphone applications, yes there great and they keep me entertained for 1.5 hour trip into the city and back but i'm not going to miss games as such as im not a games person, so not having apps available like the iphone on the Nokia, i'm not fussed, I'll still have my music to listen to and my book/newspaper to read.

I've just gone and bought a Nokia 5800 xpress, just waiting for it to receive it in the post. I personally bought the Nokia 5800 because it offers everything a mobile should, all the basic stuff to all the extra bonus stuff thats packed into a Nokia device, yes I know phone will probable release all this basic stuff in firmware updates eventually, but I don't want to wait around why they play there silly little marketing stratagies, so in the long run.. they loose a customer back to Nokia. I've always had Nokia's, I've never had any issues with any models i've bought in the past, so from personal experience, Nokia is very reliable for me.

Look, I suggest you decide what you want with a mobile phone, what features and benefits you need with a mobile phone.. then decide what would best suit your needs. Analyse the six step selling questions in yourself before making your decision.

I don't think I'll miss iphone when I get the Nokia 5800 and start using that. I might keep the iphone as an ipod back up or sell it, who knows.

Good luck in what you decide Jay. When I get mine I'll set it up and play with it and then tell you on here what I think of it with a hands on experience.

Most people who already have it on here haven't really said anything bad about it, you read alot of negative stuff but a lot of these people haven't touched it so don't make your mind up on nthere comments, they get you into a lot of trouble if you buy based on thse reports. I did that 4 weeks ago and rushed out and bought a Samsung Omnia i900, it was the worst touch phone to use and I sold it in 2 weeks of having it.Theres one mobile to stay away from.

                Cheers

                Craig

Go watch the review clip at the following link on youtube http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=W_kE11yIyKI

This guy did a 30 minute review on the Nokia 5800 and he is touching the screen showing you everything and it looks very responsive like the iphone.
Watching this clip might give you a better understandinjg of the touch screen if you haven't played with one yet.

                      Thanks

If you use the stylus then it will work better but the stylus isn't built in and hangs to the mobile, its really annoying.

                            My two bobs worth ;-)

But best touch screen ever so far and by far is Nokia 5800.

You have to cut a hole to the protection foil to a place where the sensor is located. I did it and it works just fine :)

Sensor is located 5 mm left from the front camera (darkened foil in that place).

Overall it's a good phone, proximity sensor is not good, a bit too sensitive, put a screen protector and the phone will recognize it as proximity present. therefore when there is incoming call the display will not turn on.
