Bakekang, 09 Oct 2008Even if N95 8GB costs twice or even thrice as much as 5800,... moreSo your saying that you would pick n95 8gb because its more expensive or simply because of the n-series label? That doesnt make sense.
With the 5800xm, you have a handset which is better than almost all the current n-series handsets. Yes, xpressmusic phones are generally meant for young people. However 5800xm changes a few things. Its the first nokia device outside the n-series and e-series families to come with wlan and a screen larger than 2.4 inches. Secondly, its using the same quality materials of the n85 which is different from other xpressmusic models. This phone kind of deviates from the usual xpressmusic phones. Infact, in terms of build quality and features, its more of an n-series. It didnt get a 5 or 8mp camera because that would increase the cost of the phone and this would deviate the 5800xm from being the mass product it is meant to be. In short, nokia is delivering a no-nonsense handset with no real drawbacks (as yet) meant for the mass market.
But dont worry. A touchscreen n-series phone is coming soon.

warungmobil.com, 09 Oct 2008iPhone clone. It's Nokia' 'me too'hmm.. maybe, but it almost all cellphone manufacturers released their own touch sensitive phone after iphone and besides nokia, samsung, and sony ericsson made it a point that their touch sensitive phone will deviate from iphone's shadow. and besides if it comes to "who made it first", its LG that made the very first touch sensitive mobile phone so it's all fair...

Bakekang, 09 Oct 2008Even if N95 8GB costs twice or even thrice as much as 5800,... morehold your horses! why do i feel so much bitterness?? i know everybody has their own opinion about this phone. This phone's target market are the "music lovers" and majority of that are teenagers, and we all know that teenagers do not have the money to buy expensive/high end mobile phones that's why it's price is low.
but low price doesn't make it cheap (in the negative sense). and besides the "xpressmusic" series are quite popular in the philippines(yup, i believe your also from here just like me) because of it's low price and great features.

i neither contradict nor agree on what your saying. you have the right to your opinion, but please, the phone isn't released yet in our region, we cant really say that it's all BAD!

My personal Idea about this phone is it is too thick(15.5mm) and the screan size is funny...

The internal memory is a joke.. it should be at least 1..2gb.

All other features are great.. that's all I need from a Phone.

Wait and see.. soon, Nokia will release 5810XM, 5820.. 30..40XM.. with improved screan size and internal memory.. but in the mean time.. this 5800XM is great...

guys... how come some of u keep on saying this phone is expensive?
for merely 279 euro (before subsidise), u wont be able to get anything with such features...
dont compare this with Xperia, HTC diamond or Omnia... the price is way much different

Dan, 09 Oct 2008Think of it this way...if you had a choice between n95 8gb ... moreEven if N95 8GB costs twice or even thrice as much as 5800, I'd still choose N95 8GB over this one. A non-Nseries for me is a big NO, NO!!! N95 8GB is a high-end, premium priced device that literally has everything that you can flaunt to the public and get them envious, while 5800 is just a N79 plus touchscreen minus 5MP. U cant flaunt it becos many people can afford it becos its so cheap! The race now is 8MP and I cant and will neva eva go back to 3MP for the sake of a fancy touchscreen! And look at the branding, its "XpressMusic"! Dont u know that XpressMusic is just a toy for teenagers??

Im not interested about this phone at all. I often visit nokia's latest phone models' pages here in gsmarena and this is my first time to visit 5800's page. Im surprised there are already lots of comments in here. But I still dont like this phone. Its of no interest to me at all. Ive just casted my vote on 5800.
                        Design: 1 out of 10
                        Features: 1 out of 10
                        Performance: 1 out of 10
I really dont like this phone, sorry!
                        Bye!

I've just read the review. Quite positive. The phone doesnt seem to have any drawbacks. What i did find curious is the RMAA readings. It gave the exact numbers of the n85. It seems they both use the same audio chip. Anyway, the numbers are pretty impressive.
Something else that was mentioned is that due to its screen size and speedy gps, this is nokias best GPS solution to date.
Otherwise, the review was quite positive. The phone really is worth the hype. Cant wait to get it.

The phone is launching in India in the 3rd week of Nov. And it's price? less than Rs20,000... thats around $450.. the iphone, samsung omnia, HTC touch hd all cost around $800-$1000. And they have the same specs....
I guess Nokia has proved why it's the leader in the cellphone market...

It is a great phone packed with all most all the features. On Windows Mobile we cannot get a 16 million color display like NOKIA. Far better than Iphone.

                                    http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-5800-2-en.shtml
I'll put the final words of the review for the people who "looooove" the iPhone and come here and see what iPhone can't do.
"On balance the 5800 Tube offers pretty decent sound quality, audible stereo speakers, WiFi connectivity, and a sizable display that will remain the best on the market for a quite a while. Frankly, I can hardly find anything to criticize the 5800 for, given how little it goes for - there has never been a phone like this before and now it raises the bar to a wholly new level. Well, it's about time I wrapped it all up - no point in praising this phone any further, I suppose.

Another thing of note about the 5800 Tube is that it simply won't face any challenges on the market - the Apple iPhone is a steep, fashion-savvy offering that has been deprived of many standard features, so a comparison between these two phones would seem a little too far-fetched. It does have smoother and more eye-candy menus, similar video capabilities, but that's about it - in fact the iPhone packs in around a tenth of what the Nokia 5800 has to offer in terms of functionality. It wouldn't be right to put them in one league and then berate the iPhone for lacking so many useful feats. So let the iPhone remain the ultimate choice for all fashion-conscious users, while the Nokia 5800 will be the way to go for everyone who is after a well-rounded do-it-all solution.

The revolution is already here and its name is "Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" - there will be no other similarly geared and at the same time well-balanced phone in 2009. It sports an unparalleled price/quality ratio and changes the rules for all phone makers out there, including Nokia itself."
                                    My Words:
Period!...Nokia Rules the Cellphone market (no doubt about it!) comes a year and 3 months late after the launch of the iPhone with a lesson for Apple called Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and please don't forget IS A MID-RANGE DEVICE!!!...so...what's next?
Never is too late for something that goooood!!!

i think there's no problem if nokia will sell the 5800 for a lesser price. if other brands will compete with this, it would be a better news for the consumers. let's not hate nokia for it. let other competitors be more competitive thru nokia's dedication to sell cheap phones. it is their strategy. let's respect it.

This is the best touchscreen music phone! Plus it's 3G with video calling. sucks to the iPhone 3G!
