Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970id like to see you enjoy the 8mp pic on your phone's screen. i heard it does not justify the display of an 8mp shot. and also, if you happen to have a pic taken from an 8mp cam, please post it and i'll post a 7.2mp picture taken from a real camera.
my point is.. it is not about megapixels baby. unless you want to print a lifesize pic of yourself. it is the quality of the picture. they can place 12mp in those phones but it will not be same as a 12mp digital camera or dslr.
i am still loving this phone as it gave us bits and pieces of things we want to have in a phone. and for chrissake, this is a music phone not a camera phone. get it

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2008I know that this phone supports email. All phones w/ inter... morei understand from your response that we are from different countries. we cannot maximise emailing as it is a limitation of our lowly service providers. we are charged per byte or per minute in using the internet. we mainly use mobile phones for taking pics and sending sms. mms isnt a big deal either here. what i meant with exchanging files is sending pics or music to someone like your officemate. we are a third world country, pretty much not wired up. so with limitation, Nokia phones are still the best sellers here. plus with the hefty price of iPhone (which functions we cannot maximise and with iTunes not available here), it simply wouldnt click here.
you see, different people have different tastes. i respect your love of iPhone, but i don't share your enthusiasm as we cannot enjoy things you enjoy with your service provider.

Yeah the iphone started the hype. Yeah and??? Thats all steve jobs did. Started a big fat touchscreen hype. Now everyone wants touchscreen. But what keep us from buying that dumb iphone was the lack of features & performance. Nokia copied the razr v3's design & made the n76 now they copied the iphones design with the 5800. Nokia is just making up for the other companies mistakes to make a better device so the customers can enjoy! Its the way it is and the way it will always be. So get over it people.

It seems like nokia 5800 is kinda slow in terms of the transition between 1 action to another. Same problem happens to all other touch screen device currently. I would want to get this phone but it seems rather slow.
Is Nokia going to release a firmware to fix this problem?
I do agree iPhone is much faster and smoother, also they have great design but the thing is iPhone is restricted to a lot of stuff and I don't find any flexibility in it sometimes. Kinda irritating.

Listen, iPhone is lame! Only good thing is touch screen. Tha'ts the only revolutionary technology, everything else was in use a long time now.
Now, I have an Ipod touch and the screen is great, but for a hopless camera, I'm not going to pay an extra 300$.
Now facing the facts the screen of the nokia 5800 is smaller and has a better resolution and more colours. And for BT and e-mail etc.. nokia just put more variety so everybody can apreciate its work.
I'm not a nokia fan, on the contrary I like samsung and LG. But with this phone Nokia made a very good step. Defenetly my next phone.
The iphone is all hype: except the screen wath else is revoultionary. Iphone fans if u can't answer this question just leave this forum.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will go on sale by the end of 2008 only in the following markets :
- India
- Taiwan
- Hong Kong
- Indonesia
- The UAE
- Spain
- Russia
Other markets (UK, North America, China, etc) that aren't included in the above list only be getting the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in 2009 at the same time.
According to industry analysts, Nokia plans to sell about 10 million touchscreen handsets in 2009. But, I think is that this number won't be reached with the 5800 XpressMusic only.

Revenant, 04 Oct 2008Yeah, but an office would be doing it from a PC, and nobody... moreYes, and every once in a while you email something from the office to your yahoo or google account, and guess what, it can get pushed to your phone =) So please, do not insist on giving BT file transfer more value than email, because that is just laughable.
A lot of businessmen own iphones, so you are already wrong in saying that they won't even consider the iphone =)
Oh please stop the denial. All this touchscreen mania started right after the 1st gen iphone came out. There were already several touchscreen phones before the iphone, but it's the iphone that started the major trend, so please. People like you just can't accept the iphone's success and popularity, so you'd rather say it's just a hype. No wonder other phonemakers, even Nokia, jumped into the touchscreen bandwagon. Yeah sure, just for the hype of it, lol.
I'm getting my facts right here. Look at all these new touchscreen phones that came out. Do they look like the ones HTC released years ago? No. They all look like the iphone, but you'd just rather play blind and discredit all the wonderful work that Apple put in to the iphone. If anything, you should be thankful to the iphone for raising the bar. I don't think Nokia would lower the prices of their handsets if iphone didn't give them a run for their money. Be fair and honest and give due credit.

Is this phone cheaper than the n82?
& about the camera thing! No one never complianed about the the n73's camera. Only good things were said. Now this generous device offers the same specs and now everyone is complaining. Your comparing it to the n82 when it was aimed to kill the iphone. Just buy the phone, & be merry!

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2008How many people actually communicate with 50 people at a go... moreWell there are situations when I need to send a picture to several people in different locations. With email I can do that, so why would I bother with BT or MMS when I already have email.
I'm sorry but your primitive region not having internet is none of my concern. And if you are in that primitive region, I don't think that even this Nokia phone would be good for you =) Phones like the iphone and other multi-media phones are not for primitive regions my friend. It's for the modern society. And you cannot call a society modern if they do not have internet =)
Oh please, I had the N95 before and my other friend as well, and both of us still use our digital cameras. Can't risk it, especially if you intend to post those pics on My Space or Friendster. But hey, suit yourself w/ your camera phone =)

Honestly, the iPhone is a joke compared to this phone.
As are all of Apple's products comnpared to other companies.
And what it most annoying is the fact that everything begins with the letter "i".
Seriously, Apple is the worst company ever.
Everything about Apple is wierd.
If I'm going to be getting a phone and spending a lot of money, I don't want a phone that has a symbol of a bitten piece of fruit on it...

Why are people comparing this phone to the iPhone? The Nokia 5800 is a lot better.
It has everything that the iPhone has.
It has several advantages as well:
1. 3.15MP camera w/ flash autofocus and VGA 30fps video
2. higher resolution screen
3. stereo speakers
4. better OS (in my opinion)
5. better build-quality
The initial impressions of some websites may not be completely true, considering that the Nokia 5800 they saw was only a prototype!

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2008Dude, i dont know if you know this, but 5800xm supports e-m... moreI know that this phone supports email. All phones w/ internet capabilities do. The more reason why email would be more practical than BT or MMS. But the argument is on giving more importance to MMS and BT over email just so Nokia fans can put down the iphone even though you guys know for a fact that BT file transfer and MMS are mostly used for kids' stuff. If you were to choose between wifi and BT functionality, which one would you honestly choose?
Now, it is nice that the 5800 has those features as well for more options, but it does not make the iphone a poor phone just because it didn't include those features.
On sharing files. I'm sorry but what if your friend who wants that file is 10,000 miles away from you? Can you still BT that file? W/ email you can send a file whether they're right next to you or in a different country. Now which is better?
For updates, I had the N95 before my iphone, and I don't recall ever getting any email or something from Nokia on maintaining my phone's performance. You're pretty much left on your own. With my iphone, I got an email when an update was available, and I also get a notice in itunes. You don't get that kind of service from any phonemaker.
