This phone was built to compete with the iPhone, Omnia, etc. True

This phone is an iPhone copycat. False.

iPhone is better than Nokia 5800. False.

If you want the benefit of a touch interface with multi-tasking capabilities and and a wealth of compatible applications, then the 5800 is the phone for you.

You need not worry about the apps from your previous s60 apps as the Nokia 5800 has back compatibility.

The Symbian s60 trumps over windows mobile, Mac OS X, and palm as the most widely-used OS with most of its users unaware that they're using a smartphone.

Although packaged as a music-oriented solution, the 5800 can very much function as a PDA for serious business users.

Like the E90 communicator and other s60 devices, it can handle documents, spreadsheets, presentations, pdf, divX, wma, etc.

The symbian OS, although known for its ease of use for the common applications and functions, becomes challenging with the handling of settings. This is optimized in the hardkey counterparts but needs to be reoptimized for this new touch interface.

iPhone is junk next to this phone. iphone is the perfect phone for dummies. It's user friendliness is next to none; Perfect for those with steep learning curves. It will never be a smartphone. Imagine creating a document only to be closed and deleted by an incoming call or text. Multi-tasking, anyone?

What the symbian device is that the iphone can never be: modem, USB storage device, PDA, document reader, multimedia computer.

Nice phone. It has all the necessary stuffs. But it could have done with a keypad too.If priced competitively, its gonna be a new milestone for Nokia.

nokia recommends that you install programs in the internal memory so the 80mb will fill up quickly if you're into multimedia and games. don't get me wrong, i love symbain - but then again i'm a geek. my other concern are those hideous s60 settings menus lurking under the faux-iphone sheen. hope it integrates more nicely than touch-flo. also, why is the album art feature so lame? are the contact photos tiny again? (like so small it's almost useless to help you identify the caller) wait for v2.

everything i wish the iphone had (standard bt functions, text editing, 3.2 camera, video, etc.) BUT.... only 80MB of internal (app usable) memory? 15mm thick? and nokia's gotta do something about that n-series girth- compared to even the e71.
