Looking for a new phone, I've tried this phone (borrowed from a friend and it's quite solid performer). However, I think newer smart phones have overtaken it in terms of usability and features. I am now considering the affordable Android phones with the 500-600Mhz CPU.
(OT: GSMArena, the Google Chrome ad is irritating, as it keeps obstructing view of your pages--over and over.)

bleh.. when i bought the phone, it was all cool and etc. but months passed by i realized a bunch of problems such as not getting texts, frequently freeze, blank out screen. and worse of all the screen is sensitive.. in my case it cracked. it's not a good phone in my opinion and the material feels way too cheap

Hey there my fellow tubers, just like to ask if you know a free application that can boost the volume of my tube when using the default headset while playing music player? just like when you are using a 3rd party headset where you can choose line out option w/c is really gives you loud music on the headset?

The worst Nokia phone i ever bought.. buying this phone was the biggest mistake of my life. Ever since I bought it, which was in Oct'09, I am facing problem after problem.. endlessly... and finally y'day the screen crashed and i m throwing this piece of junk into dustbin.
PS: the nokia phone before this one worked perfectly for 3 years, and i am still using it as a substitute whenever this 5800 goes out of order. so, i am not a rough user, phones actually stay with me for years....

Hi all,
I've had this handset for over a year now, there stil seems reasonable interest in it so I'll post my experience...
Pros:
* Reasonably priced for the specs - 640x360 screen, GPS, Wi-Fi, Quad Band GSM, Dual Band 3G, etc.
* GPS is good, some countries are privy to A-GPS through Ovi Maps as well.
* SportsTracker is a great piece of GPS software.
* YouTube app is OK.
* Some free games are good - Big Roll and Maps Racing for example.
* Music Player is alright, quality is decent.
Cons:
* Interface is clunky, particularly the keyboard implementation...
* Home page has very little customisation.
* No social network integration. Eg. facebook app required (messaging sometimes doesn't work), no good RSS feed app available, etc.
* Web browsing is slow/clunky, sometimes crashes.
* Limited number of apps available on Ovi Store.
* Camera is poor, but the dual LED does make a good flashlight :)
The Bottom Line
---------------
While it could be considered "a good deal" in that you do get a significant number of features for your money, the interface itself (s60v5) is certainly a generation or two behind the latest iOS, android or WP7 offerings.
If you only use your phone for calls, messaging and select applications (as I do with SportsTracker, Google Maps, some casual gaming and watching the occasional YouTube clip) then it is a great value proposition.
If you want to be on the bleeding edge, or want a phone that does everything, or like to spend a long time playing around with apps or web browsing on your phone then you will get frustrated with the 5800 because of the slow/clunky interface, the poor software keyboard and the lack of applications available through Ovi Store.

I`ve got this phone for 6 months. All I can say it's perfect, I think of it as being my baby. It`s look, it`s features, everything it's just perfect, I can't find anything wrong at it. With the last update the screen flip works even better
