venus, 01 Oct 2010 I am seeing many people talking about PNHT and flashing f... moreHi!!! I am glad you showed your interest in this!
1.Look, noting's safe if you do it the wrong way! ;) Millions of people don't use genuine OSs like XP & 7. But it will work if you follow the simple procedures given by PNHT.
2.Same as 1. Choose the cooked firmware carefully! It should have 3 or more files. You have to download it from your PC itself. No need of phone! While flashig, If you enter the wrong parameters, your phone may get bricked! Mien was successful!! :D
3.I hope this doesn't happen! But when you give it to the priority shop, they won't come to know how the phone got bricked. Perhaps, there are steps on web on how to recover a bricked phone. (Keep a backup of your original firmware i.e. v51.0.006 always) (You will get it from navifirm).I have some friends who have gone through this! I Think the guarantee will get void if you tell them the truth!! (Which you shouldn't!)
4.Don't know about that! Don't give a damn to the laws!
5Yup! It will display Nokia 5800-C6 Reborn (in case of C6) but the type will always remain the same. e.g. RM-356. You can always switch back to the original firmware!!
5a.Dude! Even Apps of N97 can be downloaded which includes both of them.
5b.Ya! Why not? Only that the location shown in some sites like google changes. But you can always manually change your country.
5c.5800. But only after flashing with original firmware.
          6.Don't know it yet! :(

I hope it helps & you do flash your phone. Click on the links I have posted a day back for more info!

I am seeing many people talking about PNHT and flashing firmware with a version of f/w designed for another phone.
However i have few questions about that.

              1) first of all is that safe to flash firmware pf 5800XM with that of any other phone (c6, for example)?

              2) is it guaranteed that it will be completed successfully on any 5800XM ? What if the update stucks in between? Phone will be unusable?

              3) is not the guarantee void if i flash the firmware of my phone (still on warranty)

              4) is it not illegal to do that? (i.e. you are using a f/w which is not bought by you & not developed for the phone you bought, and nokia will be having copyright of the new firmware you install)

              5) after flashing, will it change the phonecode? is it ok to do that?

5a) after flashing, is it possible to install any applications developed for c6? ot 5800XM? or both?

5b) after flashing, is it safe to install any applications and browse internet?

5c) after flashing, which phone's s/w updates further i can look for? is it C6's or 5800XM?

              6) is it true that 5800XM's next s/w version includes widgets (like c6)? in that case no need to flash now :-)

If you want to spend over $300 on a phone that has you going to Nokia for constant repairs, this is the phone for you.

So far, I have taken this phone to Nokia Care five times and I am looking at six. Nokia has replaced the entire internal system of my phone twice! The GPS fails, the phone shuts off for no reason, battery life is terrible and there is little if any that your battery is low. The turning off for no reason was really frustating.

The last time I was at Nokia Care they lost my ENTIRE contact list. Years of numbers they lost.

I have wasted so much of my time having people try to repair this phone and what did Nokia do: replace the internal workings of the phone. The phone company I bought it from quietly said there are problems with this phone. Oh, really?

Avoid this cell phone. I am DEAD serious. Nothing but a headache and I am OUT $320!

Let us all face it...all mobile phones are not created equal..but for value and features, nothing can beat 5800XM...all those who complain about it really do not know what they are doing or they got faked ones. It is one of a kind, the best that Nokia made.. I used to own an Iphone...it is like Mayweather Jr....overhyped and overpriced.

N8 can play only 720p videos while this can play 1080p. This can play videos continuously for 15 hours. Great battery life and really fast interface touch responsiveness is amazing.

Better than N8, why does nokia need a new phone when this phone is better than samsung galaxy, wave, and iphone4.
