Well what do I say. This is really one of the best mobile phone that has been built/created for the masses.
Everything about the phone is cool. I bought this phone probably about 3 months ago (after I my Nokia N73 ME phone got robbed) and trust me I've really loved the performance of this phone.
It really depends as a mobile user what do you really want in a phone. What I wanted was a fantastic music and good quality video experience. This phone does both. It's got a dedicated Audio Chip for Crystal Clear Hi-Fi Surround Sound and it's video aspect ratio of 16:9 is really good for watching movies at nHD!!!
The best part about this phone is that Nokia has bought a lot of improvements by releasing new firmware for this phone.
When I purchased this phone it came with Version 40.
Later after 3 days of purchase I used the Nokia Software Updater and updated it to Version 50. This version bought in a new feature which was seen in the other phones like Nokia N97 and 5233 etc.. which was the Kinetic Scrolling. Also added Nokia Maps 3.0 and was supposed to have Quick Office Installed which really never happened when I tried it. However updating the mobile phones firmware decreased the performance of the phone slightly.
Just few weeks ago Nokia released another firware i.e. Version 51.0.006
This has eleminated the performance issue and now the phone works smoothly.
Lastly I'd like to say that It's a really good phone for the price that you pay.

I think the price is fair enough, considering the specs it has. I've actually been saving for this phone after i lost my n78 to some hoodlums. It would have been awesome if it came with an fm transmitter!
I have just one question, d camera specs is the same with that of my n78 but why am i reading here that the images taken with it are poor? I didn't experience that with my n78 and its so confusing how that could possibly be. I am shopping for this in 2days from now.

Now with Nokia X6 8GB version already been released in India, it would be really interesting to see what would be the fate of Nokia 5800 in the coming days.
Nokia X6 8GB is available in New Delhi at mobile shops for rupees 13,900 inclusive of all taxes.

The best phone at this price?? you wrong! I own an 5800mx and i tell you, is overpriced, and an low performance one... i will sell it! at this price a 3MP camera lower than 6500 slide/n73 (with the same specificstion)??I'm a nokia fan, but nokia should learn about music sound from samsung smartphones (iven from LG,iven if i hate LGs).. Dolby Mobile, SRS, TRueVoice, DNSe, Incredible Surround, etc....etc...and after that name it XM or Music edition without that old and boooring 3D; and what about dedicate processor...is to have a clear sound like nokia old phones...
Anyway, i won this phone....but in my opinion, you people, don't buy it at this price!! That are your money not mine...

this is the best mobile in its price range....i m using 5800 for nov 2009 and still cant find any kinda bug in this fone...talking about samsung wave and galexy ...this fones are good but ,they are not user frendly ...cauz u cant install any game or any software form outside....and cracking and hacking the samsung fone is hard job... so why to buy a fone with so many bugs ...so go for 5800 or ask your any pal with 5800 about this phone....

It does not even have a 12MP camera, yet it is better than the nokia n8. I wonder how that could possibly be.

in the new v51 the kinetic scrolling is funny. It's not a kinetic scrolling anymore, more like frictionless scrolling especially in music menu. The scrolling has to be stopped with a touch.

Camera quality sucks, but other that everything is awesome....
