Hello Folks.
Can anybody tell me that after upgrading the nokia 5800 firmware to v40, does smartmovie v4.15 works well or not?
I am asking this because i have read it in few blogs that it (SmartMovie) crashes or phone restarts while changing video from portrait to landscape mode. It had happened to those people after firmware upgrade.
Can anyone confirm this here on gsmarena? Is it true? please clarify.

It w... moreApart from the phone memory and the card memory there is another memory for a mobile phone which is not accessible to it's users. This is the primary memory or RAM which is generally much smaller in capacity. When you run applications they get loaded into this primary memory. That means if you are running too many applications simultaneously, you might get this message.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2010NEVER EVER CHOSE A SYMBIAN PHONE.... Read carefuly frndz m... moreI agree with you on some points that Symbian is becoming obsolete. However, there is another key that- symbian is going open source. It may turn the future of it +ve also. And currently, price is the factor to decide on an mid range priced phone like 5800. No other brand will give so many features, though many phones have better intuitive UI and quicker response (on touch screen). in general samsung is the tough competetor to nokia due to their top class innovations & quality concern. however, i am sure their equivalent of 5800(on spec) is INR 5K more priced. As you said, if anyone is soending more than INR20K then better go for Windows mobile or Android. I don't vote for iPhone because of their marketing tactics. they sell very less features for very high price in the hype of quality.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2010Pls can anybody tell me how to update my 5800 xm to v40. Do... moreTo upgrade the OS to version 40, you need to use the nokia software updater which can be downloaded from the Nokia website. This is by far the best way. On the other hand, you can go to a nearby Nokia Care centre and they will install the OS for free. I did the same coz I could not update via nokia software updater...

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2010Hi I have a question about editing text input that is typed... moreyour scenario description is difficult to unserstand. However, i am using 5800 and it works like this...
you typed a sentense "I love nokia 5800 xpres music" and tap on "correct" mark on the keypad screen and come back to sms create screen and noticed a spelling eror in "xpress" and want to correct it, then you should just tap on the word "xpress". The entire sentence will be re opened on the text box of touch keypad and "xpress" word will have focus, u can again tap on the word and replace the correct word or using backspace arrow, you can delete the word and inser correct word. you can ise red-colored right & left arrows to navigate through letters if its difficult to select a part of long words.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2010agus, is it because it's hard to type in touchscreen virtu... moremy opinion is, for anyone who is familiar with computer keyboard, the Querty keyboard is easier to use. Upon that, the touch screen in 5800 makes the life even more easier. (any phone having querty touchscreen , for that matter). if you dont have control on fingertips OR your fingers are too huge and can't sense where you are touching then use stylus (comes along with 5800 or almost any mobile)

I have installed more than 80 applications in my 5800. It works well but when i try to open the application manager to uninstall apps, the screen goes blank for a while and returns to the home screen. Also when i try to open the applications folder in the grid view it says "low memory, close some applications!" but i have 43mb of phone memory and more than 2.5gb of memory card. I found no viruses as i have kaspersky trial version. And NONE of the appswere running @ that time as well. Firmware is the latest one. What could possibly be the problem??? If anyone knows a solution (other than formatting) or the reason for this please email to"nadulais@ovi.com" and kindly let me know. It'll be a big help. Awaiting advice. :)
