The new firmware v40.0.005 brings kinetic scrolling, 5530 like homescreen & much more. It's available through NSU & FOTA in most of the regions. Please, do a hard reset by dialing *#7370# & format the memory card, to run the phone smooth & without any problems. Be sure to keep a backup first. ENJOY !

Gogo MkSk, 12 Feb 2010Hey i just bought the phone so i have few questions. 1.i... more1. You'll have to hack the phone, or change it's product code if you wanna install the new v40 by yourself. Hence you will void the warranty. v40 is not available in many regions yet. Google it and if your region's on the list, you can probably do it via Nokia Software Update for free. I think they charge a small fee in some regions.

                      2.

For longer battery time: Don't use the screen too much. Like when playing music, use the remote adapter to change songs/stop/play. Keep the sensors ON. Also keep the screen brightness at 50% or lowest, and speaker volume at 75% for extended battery time. Let the screen go off inn 10 - 20 sec. of non usage.

For longer battery life: Don't let the battery drain fully before recharging. Charge whenever 3 bars are left. But once in 2 weeks or even a month, let the battery empty before charging. Avoid exposing the phone to heat (30 deg C or more) as much as possible. Heat is harmful to the battery.

                      3. There are tons of applications available now for s60v5 OS. QuickOffice, Adobe Reader LE, BrightLight, ScratchPad, Mobile Paint, vMenu, Gravity, Abbyy Business Card Reader, FExplorer, ALON MP3 Dictaphone, Opera Mobile 10 (Beta) are just some, to get you started...

                      Enjoy! :)

Fabio, 13 Feb 2010Should I get this phone or the 5530??? is just that I think... more@Fabio I've used both the 5530 and the 5800, and feel that you should choose according to your requirements. The 5800 is a better loaded phone, but it does have its drawbacks. If you prefer looks over features, go for the 5530 (Although it's just a tad smaller than the 5800) The 5800 has a bigger and better screen, better Music player (quality wise), better Camera (with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash), much better battery, 8GB memory card, 3G (with Video Calling), and A-GPS (with free Navigation for life)... That's a lotta features extra. Though I did find the Home screen of the 5530 better. Basically the 5530 is a downgraded 5800. Choose well :)

Bought it mainly for it's free GPS/Ovi maps functionality. No problems at this department. All other aspects are fine too. My only two complaints go to UI and touchscreen. UI (version 40 smth) is still unconsistent - somewhere only one touch to start application, other places double-touch - very annoing. We don't need to activate list item (first touch) and then start application (second touch). When i touch it, i want it to start at once. Nokia, fix it! And also resistive screen is somewhat hard to use, but anyway, for it's price some drawbacks are bearable.
