I bought this phone last week and the entire week I could not even play with my phone...my wife had it the entire week and didn't want to let it go :-)

She wanted to keep the phone and I had to fight to get the phone back!!

Bottom line, this phone is really good for it's price range and even though the camera at night is not so good, I am really satisfied with my 'baby' (5800)

Cos, 22 May 2009I've owned this 5800XM for 5 months, and from what I see, ... moreNokia 5800 has a resensitive touchscreen as the iPhone has a capacitive one, different technologies each with their + and - .

in respond of Gulo, i say that,i posted my personal opinion....

i came from a nokia 6120classic wich it is an awesome phone... long battery life, sms writing at speed of light, small dimensions...

and the only idea to spend the twice of the price of a 6120 to a cell that has, in fact the half of the performance (in terms of battery life and sms writing) it's out of my mind.

yes, the phone's got the gps and the wi-fi, but, i just want a phone that doesnt shut off and laft me alone during my day...

              ps:
i really think that the sms wrinting system on the 5800 is very uncomfortable, also, some little things in the manage of the contacts make the phone really uncomfortable... for example, when you search for a contact, you can type a letter, and the system will show you only the contact with the text in the search box, but, the thing is that the virtual key board of the search will also eliminate the keys that you dont need anymore.
this it could be cool, but finally you have to search every time you type a letter, the following letter, because it will not be in the same place before... that's pretty unpleasant!

(i'm sorry for my awful english..... i come from italy...)

To answer about the battery life, I pretty much agree with someones post below... a day after i got the phone and had it fully charged i did alot on it thorughout the day, moderate wifi use, and just a bunch of fooling around with the fone throughout the whole day and it about died on my late that night.

However, under what I consider normal use (some texting, some wifi usage, fooling around with the phone, etc) the phone will go about 2 days as stated in another post. I find this to be pretty decent as you to realize that you are using wifi and such, which will drain battery...and I don't see whats wrong with a 2 day battery life as I would usually just plug my phone in when I sleep anyway since theres never a time that i'm sleeping somewhere without electricity...but thats just me...any other questions i'll be happy to answer.

I've owned this 5800XM for 5 months, and from what I see,

                              1) the battery life isn't too bad, just so long as you don't set the screen brightness too high, then it would be OK. Of course, as on any other phone if you use WiFi alot, it will drain the bettery pretty quick, the same goes for the use of bluetooth, 3G instead of 2G, and you also need to consider the size of the screen, it is 3.2", which is 0.6" bigger than the N85's. As for me, I think the battery life is good enough.

2)people argue about the touchscreen quality or something like that. I've own a iPod Touch which has the same touchscreen tech as the iPhone. I'm not a fan of the iPhone but I really have to admit, the responsiveness is better on the iPhone. but the drawback is that you can't use a stylus on the screen. (not that I like using a stylus anyways)

3)I think the camera is good, but only in broad daylight. in low lit places, or at night, it's horrible, with lots of noise in the photos. I'm not much of a photographer, but I think I can tell. It would've been nice to have a camera lens to protect the lens, but that would only add cost to the price.

4)Music-wise, I think the 5800's speakers are by far the best speakers ever to exist on a mobile phone!. It is waaaay better than my previous N95 8GB's and my W902 Walkman's. But, if you listen music through earphones, I still think the W902 Walkman's sound quality is a little bit better.

All in all, I think this is a pretty good phone. If only it had the iPhone's touchscreen tech, then it would've been the one of the best!....
