The default camera is not that good. Install gcam, the quality of photos and videos are dslr quality. Natural colours and excellent clarity. Though it's an android one device, the camera software is not from Google, like pixel phones. This device has excellent camera hardware. So use gcam.

Either way, we have a 5.3 in the family and it's silent. Sound down to zero, alarms switched off and then restart the phone. That did it for us.

I have had several Nokia mobile phones in the last number of years, and the Nokia 5.3 is the worst. The camera has a mind of its own, works when it feels like it, and the awful welcome note when powering up the phone cannot be turned off. Even with sound down as far as it will go, and the speaker muted it still plays the awful tune. Never purchase a Nokia phone again. James.

Go to YouTube because Nokiapoweruser has installed Gcam on 5.3 and it's absolutely amazing how good the pictures looks and they nightscape is stellar!

Bought this phone after years of using expensive, flagships. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for good value and reliability. Big screen and pretty snappy for what I do (calls, text, emails, ebooks, etc). Hybrid dual sim works well. Photos are fine. In all a quality budget phone.

The phone is decent for the price but i want to mention some things that bothered me after using it for 1week:
- the phone is big for me I feel uncomfortable using it with my small hand
- the speaker is trash at low volumes and ok at higher volumes
- you can notice the low resolution of the display and it sucks that you can't play YouTube videos at 1080p

I forgot to tell by the way that the thing I'm most happy with is FM radio and 3,5mm jack I use it like all the time everywehre I go I try to use radio.

Why is there no review of this phone? Or Nokia 8.3? One after another Redmi or Realme or Samsung or Huawei is being reviewed but not a Nokia. Underrated phone, I am using the 5.3 since launch so far so good especially Nokia updates are good and reliable. Previous phone was a Xiaomi nice phone cheap but ads and lack of updates.
