No problem here. All I can say is that it works perfectly and looks fantastic; the features are more than I need. I do not need a memory card etc... so I am very happy with it.

To Cruz,
It seems that you are still very keen to buy the silver 6111, even after all the complaints that you have read and after Irma already buying a different phone? I was also very interesting to buy the 6111 (black), but am now seriously thinking about either Samsung E630 or Siemens CF110.
I'm curious to hear your arguments for still wanting the 6111 (except for perhaps the name Nokia and the looks...).

hahaha never email customer service about these kinds of problems. They give you a load of "generic" pre-"recorded" poo.
"Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
We sincerely regret to hear that you have been facing ongoing issues with your
Nokia 6111 and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We wish to assure you
that all Nokia products undergo a very thorough quality assurance program with
extensive research and development. Nokia maintains the most stringent quality
controls available so that we can confidently provide one of the most reliable
products in the industry. Hence, there are no generic faults with this or any
other Nokia mobile phones."
ahahaha. If it were so damn "reliable", there wouldn't be 293487239259237417235 people complaining about the same problem.

Here in The Netherlands the Silver Grey Color is expected in week 3. So in the UK it will be the same?
However the Black color is already available in the UK except in the Benelux-Area.....

For a phone that is supposed to counter the Samsung D500 (which was released way earlier), it gets a rough beating. Nokia seems to pride themselves on creating phones that only look aesthetically pleasing.
I am one of the unfortunate few to have purchased this phone based highly on that factor. Of course we all desire a nice looking phone, but when functionality and quality come into question, I'd much rather prefer a phone that works well. Firstly, the memory is so idiotic. They include these nifty headphones and everything but only to realize that you have 23 megs of space to put your songs! (if even!) The graphic interface of the menu is not nice at all. The font looks like something I'd find on a retro digital watch. I just got it yesterday and my screen went white a few times already. I'm not going to dwell more on the screen because with the other threads, it is clear that it has a problem. I'm sure no one else mentioned it, but the phone has a very glossy finish which makes it get dirty really easily.
On a positive note, I think the 6111 looks very nice and it certainly caught my attention when I first saw it. I feel that Nokia had the basis for a great phone but totally neglected common design sense with the interface. They are also relatively inexperienced compared to Samsung in the sliding phone category.
Please do your research before buying this phone and make sure you know what you're getting into. I'm sure with proper care, this phone can be durable, but read the technical details and see if that sells.

In response to Jade's comment, ring whoever you purchased the phone from and tell them what happened.
When I bought mine yesterday, I plugged my charger in, switched the phone on and then off (as mentioned in the quick instructions) and then I turned it on again while it was charging so I could check out the features.

Hi,
I recieved my Nokia 6111 just today. As soon as it was out of the box I put the sim in and the battery I charged it up for the 1hour and 10 mins as suggested.
When I came to turn the phone on however I got as far as where you have to enter the time and it restarted itself, when it got to the same point oncemore it turned itself off.
I've checked the battery and sim to see if they are okay and they seem so.
Does anyone have any help for me please??
I also bought it from O2.
Thanks for any help

I bought the nokia 6111 yesterday at carphonewarehouse. UK. I have not had any problems with it so far, I like it lot. If any thing goes wrong I can takr it back the phone has insurance and anyway, dont forget your legal rights people. Sale of Goods Act, if its not satisfactory you can take it back.
I'd like to know where you guys bought your phones from, the UK over the internet, cant you return them if they are faulty?
Let Me know please

I agree with cruze, never buy the first batch of phones, always wait at least one month (three is better). Anyway, as I wanted to buy the white one, I hope these ones will be fixed.

I think the 1st shipment (November 2005) of the new Nokia 6111 has got bugs/errors.
I think the 2nd shipment will be a better version. Because the N6111 is hardly to get. It's still not available in The Netherlands/Belgium/Luxemburg. We haven't had the 1st shipment at all. In the UK and Germany the 1st shipment of the 6111 is limited available and only in Black.
Nokia has delayed the release dates so it might they recalled everything and fixed some major problems. It's now expected in week 3. And in Europe/Asia the Silver and Pink versions are not available. So if you buy the Silver/Pink version you might have a better version.
But it think that's the risk you take if you buy things at first. The 6230 also had errors when it first was released.

I feel bad about the flaws with 6111, because before realizing them,I recommended it to four of my friends who got it. Now we're all encountering these irritating problems. Talk to the dealer, Fortress Electronics, so far they don't have the software patches. My next unit will definitely not be a Nokia. I am very dissapointed because before I have so much in Nokia's quality/thoroughness/compatence of product and design.

I bought my 6111 in Hongkong last Dec. After using it for a month these are flaws I noticed and may give Nokia a bad reputation.
The phone keeps on crashing intermittently. It crashes for no reason. Sometimes I'm keying a text and halfway, everything go blank, I lost all the text after it automatically reboot. Or when sliding the phone to read a text, it konks out. The other issue is the time stamped on text messages are incorrect. When reading the message detail, what are shown are random time. Very odd, because the time of message I sent are correct. Another feature which I missed with my old Nokia, is to be able to forward "icons & graphics" sent to me. I wish someone from Nokia is reading this and will come up with remedies.
