I had the same problem too, for the two weeks when my phone worked. A full charge would only last one day, with no pictures and average call time.

features are ok. no much change. but i think this time nokia has forgotten about the memory slot. not enough internal memory

the phone is ok, apart from a few times it re starts itself and asks me if i want to start phone with out sim!! takes a few goes to get the phone back on and working, battery life for me seems great, far better then a Samsung D600 i used to have

Thanks for that Cruz. I have always followed their advice and only charged my phone up once it has been fully discharged. I was just surprised that it lasted such a short period of time for it's first charge when it didn't have much activity. After reading everything else about peoples problems with the phone it kinda made me a bit more worried that this is a permanent problem with the battery, i guess i shall see.

Abouth the Battery,

Once again:

Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, replace the battery. Use only Nokia approved batteries, and recharge your battery only with Nokia approved chargers designated for this device.

I upgraded free to this phone on Saturday and charged it for the recommended 12 hours and so started using it yesterday morning. All i've done is had a slight play with it and adjusted some settings and the battery died on me this morning when i got to work (Monday morning)! My partner and i had read previously that the battery didn't last very long but we put that down to peoples different degrees of use. I've just charged the phone again and turned it on hoping that the charge lasts longer this time and was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem, and also if it is just because the battery is new and needs to get used to holding charge or if it is a fault!?

I've just ordered a Nokia 6111 from O2 online as this was suggested by the sales person. I've since read these opinions and I'm slightly worried about it now. I know it won't be a problem sending it back, but I'd rather keep it knowing it's a better batch. Does anyone know if the latest batch of phones are any better? I could really do with some positive comments!

If you ring Carphone Warehouse, preorder it you will get black on O2 PAYG pretty quick, they seem to get stock in every couple of days and it goes out of stock the same day. Pink and Silver arent in yet with them.

i read on here that some people have got the Nokia 6111 on O2 payg, but no matter where i look i cannot find it anywhere! can anybody tell me where i can find it?

Alvin,

Nokia SHOULD be quite experienced with slider phones, as their N7650 was one, if not the first slider phone. (Look it up, it was big and ugly!)

Anyone else,

I know the glitches, I know I may get it and have to take it back the next day, but I had 3 Samsung E720's before turning to an N6230i. These things do have bugs when released and if people are eager enough to want it first they are willing to take a risk. I obviously care that I would have a bug free phone, but if I though about everything I really wanted like that, I wouldnt leave the house.

If you do want it as much as I do and are willing to buy it regardless, make sure you have a good customer service department incase.

I have had my Pink 6111 on order since 12/12/05 with Carphone Warehouse in UK and am still waiting impatiently. Apparently I dont have a lot of choice if I want pink cos COW have released in this months mag that they have exclusive rights to the pink one Still, they are ok for exchanging faulty goods and they are quite cheap £169.99 on O2 PAYG

To Lucy and Tulp,

I recently had a post regarding the inadequacies of the 6111 so you should read more about it.

Lucy, most phones have the option of turning blue tooth on and off. Because bluetooth strains the battery a lot, it usually is OFF by default. Never leave your bluetooth on unless you're actually connecting to a device because you'll see your battery life fluctuate like no tomorow.
In terms of how long the phone lasts, it's a relatively new phone (nov-dec 2005?) but there are still people who have broken the ribbon already. I think this mainly has to do with Nokia's inexperience in the field of sliding phones.

Tulp (sorry for the short form)
The Siemens CF110 seems like a dependable phone but if you buy that phone, it will be a step back in technology. There are a lot of things that are unavailable on the phone like bluetooth, mp3 ringtones, expandable slots. 6111, despite it's problems, has a lot of features like a radio, walkie talkie option, bluetooth, mp3 (though only 23 megs), video, camera. Though I'm confident that the Siemens structure is more durable than the Nokia 6111, it does not embrace technology stepping forward. I'm just assuming that since you're looking for a nice sliding phone, you're more about the features and looks than just a functional phone (otherwise, you'd get a cheap cheap phone)

I say if you both are BEYOND the aesthetics of the phone, look at the Samsung d-500 or d-600. Both of them are ahead of their time and you'll find nothing but good reviews on them. In fact I can't believe that the d-500 was released earlier than the nokia and still way better.

Btw, my Nokia 6111 is working fine so far. Only bought 4 days ago. My fault is that I bought without research and based my decision on the brand and the manipulative salesman!

I'm like the person below, want the phone so much but worried it will break.
Two questions
1) what is the longest anyone has had this phone without it breaking.
2) can you switch bluetooth on/off on this phone?

To Cruz,

So my guess was right: the name (also meaning functionality because it's Nokia after all) and looks are attracting you towards the 6111, even with all the flaws and problems that are likely to occur... Well, it's the same for me!

I have ordered the Siemens CF110 at Pixmania for 154 euro, but still haven't paid because I'm not sure whether I should buy it.

I had already ordered a 6111 at Bobshop (both silver and black are in stock for 269/279 euro resp.), but cancelled that order due to the posts that I read here...

So, I still haven't made my mind up! I would like to buy the 6111, but don't want to end up with a phone that doesn't work due to short battery life, malfunctions and broken ribbons...

Who has some advice for me?

hey there folks, i bought a nokia 6111 (a silver one) at the start of december. i took it home and charged like normal, and it worked fine for the first day.then i woke up the next morning and put it on charge just to make sure the battery would not run out over the course of the day. then when i plug it in, the phones "dies". so i turn it back on, nothing.imagine my disgust at having paid a good amount of money for this phone and it doesnt work. so i take it back to the shop and they send it away to nokia.one week later i receive my replacement. skip forward a couple of weeks. sitting at home, plug in my phone to charge, and the screen goes dead. will not turn back on, absolutely disgusted. i am taking it back today, unfortunately i have lost the receipt, but will they still replace faulty goods?

The phones looks great and for an average/non-demanding user is just fine. BUT, watch out from the sliding mechanism. Most of those, after using them for a couple of weeks, you may start having problem. You do not need to be a geneous to anticipate the trouble that is coming up. Those that they like to open things up, you can see how bad is the spring mechanism design inside of the phone. Nokia should recall Nokia 6111 and fix properly the spring mechanism. Expect the phone i) re-start due to software issue ii) LCD screen to disappear due to flex cable and iii) rolling mechanism to sound and feel bad due to internal spring mechanism. I hope http/: www.soundtech.com.cy in Cyprus will be the only one anticipating the problems that are about to appear on Nokia 6111!!

To Tulpenham:

Well indeed the 6111 has got bugs as i've read on this site. My interest is now less than a few months ago. But I also had this with my Nokia 8310 which was a pre-release. I had 4 SW updates and the Phone is great. I still use my 8310. But it misses nowadays functions etc.

The phones you mentioned are great! But I want this phone of it's design and the Nokia simplicity. I know i might get a buggy phone but that is the risk a take of the first release. With a few software updates the phone will be awesome.

Only that slide-problem I don't like! With that fragile ribbon.

We'll see.

It seems that the 6111 is available in Rotterdam.

I'm from Spain and I've bought the Nokia 6111 last week. This is my secong nokia 6111. The only problem I've had with the first one is the battery (only 24 hours) and now I'm testing a new one and it seems to have the same problem...
